Almond House is a great hostel and Laura and Nige are lovely hosts. It's a small place but cosy and warm. The people who stay there are a complete mix of ages but all so lovely and chatty too - a social place. The rooms were comfortable with small bedside tables and lamps. Wifi was hit and miss and bikes...

Stayed here for a few nights in Nelson with my girlfriend. It was a small little place with a variety of people (age, place, etc) but turned out a nice stay. They have one stove which you think would be a problem but it never was. Wifi was a bit temperamental. They have a couple bikes available for riding but...

This was not the best of places to stay- especially for a group of four- we might have been better to book a motel as price probably wouldn't have been much different. We felt there were too many people staying for the facilities and all a bit of a rabbit warren. Lovely comfortable beds though and a good nights sleep...

A good affordable backpackers style, it is nice and comfy place to stay overnight. Clean, and quiet at night, well, it also depends on your next room neighbours. We were lucky, our neighbours both sides were good and keep whole night very quiet for decent sleep, regardless the thin walls between us. A shared bathroom and toilets, and also kitchen...

This backpackers was an amazing place! I stayed for 2 nights and loved it. The owners were very kind and friendly. I really liked that they had free WiFi, which many places make you pay for and they had a computer you had free access to! It was only a few minutes walk from town. A great find!!!

Really nice staff, spacious and clean kitchen/common room, clean bathrooms, garden, nice dorm. (Even the upper bed had a small shelf and a light - you can't take that for granted in a hostel...) This is not a party-hostel. But a great and cozy place to stay - also for families and people older than 25 ;-)

For our last night in New Zealand, my friend and I decided we would treat ourselves to a hostel after tent camping almost every night. We get to Nelson and ended up with a flat tire! After much distress, I walked across town to book a room at Almond House and Paul (the awesome guy running the place) not only...

This was the nicest hostel we stayed in in New Zealand. Their are two big kitchens which is more than enough space to accommodate everyone at mealtimes. The staff were friendly. We had a twinprivate room, and the beds were lovely and cosy. I have nothing but good things to say about this hostel.

I stayed one night in a twin room. Beds were comfortable and the room was a good size. The guy at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The shared areas were immaculate. The kitchen was spotless and had everything you could need. Bathroom facilities were also extremely clean.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at Almond House. It was definitely one of the best hostels we stayed at whilst in NZ and we would definitely return there again in the future. The staff were very friendly and helpful and took the time to share their local knowledge with us. The accommodation itself was very clean, well...

“Rooms inside the main house are quieter”

“Couldn't speak more highly of the beds, linens and simple yet enjoyable decor in the 2-single private room with shared bathrooms. Nice to have a place to hang clothes inside as well, and appreciated the extra electrical outlets to charge our phones.”
