What a gorgeous hostel! We stayed in a double room - really clean and got clean towels for our stay. Really comfortable bed. The showers/bathroom were always clean. The lounge area is so colourful and bright, staff were super friendly. Free wifi but the best bit was we got free chocolate pudding and free breakfast. Was definitely my favourite hostel...

I've only stayed here for a night and 2 nights in YHA and I really regretted not staying here for all my nights in Nelson! Other than the location, everything else beats the YHA! The staffs are very friendly and would chat with you upon your arrival and answer to all my queries with a smile! The kitchen and dining...

This hostel really exceeded my expectations, we had a great time here. People were always kind and very service oriented. This hostel is all about the details which makes it a great place to stay. Walkable distance to town. The front desk booked our kayak hire for the next day free of charge. Towels provided. When we went it was packed, but I didn't notice...

This is a pleasant backpackers - nice decor, clean, good location etc- but we weren't able to sleep here. Each night, people gathered out front below the rooms and kept us awake after midnight until asked (repeatedly) to be quiet. The rules of the place say that people shouldn't sit there after 10 pm, but clearly nobody gives a toss....

Hi Matt, We were sad to hear that there were other persons being so noisy on the nights you stayed. Whilst we think of our hostel as a place where people have a good time and meet others we find our guests are usually respectful and don’t make a lot of noise late into the night – sounds like sadly...

Tasman Bay is one of the nicest hostels I've stayed at. The location is perfect - about a 10 min walk to the centre of Nelson, but located across the bridge in a quiet residential area, so you still get a good night's sleep. The rooms are spacious and clean (we had a double with a shared bathroom). There are...

As I just had two weeks left in NZ, my friend and me decided to go to Nelson as a last trip. We found Tasman Bay Backpackers in the BBH broshure and it had good ratings so we booked in for a couple of nights. I was surprised how welcomed I felt, even on the first day. The manager is...
