Positive - The view! Refrigerator for guests. Negative - Road up very difficult, single lane road with two way traffic up steep hill, tight turns; small, cramped room, small bed (supposed to be queen size), bedroom door does not latch, no ensuite bathroom; no cooked breakfast; lots of house rules - most notable, must remove shoes to go to second...

We loved this B&B located in an old charming house on a hill with a view over Nelson and the sea. Only 15 minuts walk from the city center. The hostess served a delicious breakfast with home made yoghurt, fruits, bred, coffee ect. We would have loved to stay longer.

My husband and I stayed one night here. The house is quite lovely and Annie was very friendly. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom quite clean. Breakfast was included and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests and talking with Annie about her travels in the US. That hill was quite the hike to/from town for dinner but well...

Oh Dear! Annie has to have guests to help pay the running costs of this exquisite Arts & Crafts bungalow on a hilltop with fabulous, fabulous views out over Nelson & the water. However she doesn't like them!! This quite spoilt our stay. On the phone she said I could have a fold out bed in the double room, for...

Great view over Nelson, beautiful old house and garden, healthy and delicious breakfast, and a very friendly lady who looked after our little baby son, so that we could go out alone for the first time after some months... We didn't want to leave anymore.

Lovely home situated atop a hill with amazing views of Nelson and beautifully maintained gardens. Just a short uphill walk from town, the house felt so much like home, it was hard to leave. Anne was a wonderful host. Considerate, helpful, generous, flexible, well traveled and knowledgeable about the area .. and truly a pleasure to be around. All and...

I stayed at Te Maunga House for several days in May and it was an amazing experience. While I prefer to meet locals and stay at B&B's or other local establishments when I travel, I have to realize that my experiences and accommandations will vary at each destination. That is, after all.....the point of real travel for me. Anne Kolless,...

Te Maunga could be quite difficult to find but the directions are reasonably comprehensive with only a little confusion at the very end. Our greeting gave me pause for reflection when we were asked to remove our shoes. I was wearing crocs. Then we were told we had the wrong walking gear on - "expensive merino like I have is...

This is a grand dame set on 1 imperial acre, on the highest hill, overlooking Nelson. The views are stunning. It can be a bit tricky to find, but our GPS handled it well, even though we ended up going up the more difficult way (one single lane, with 2 way traffic). Anne works very hard at keeping this place...

“I loved our quaint double room, the view was too die for. Unfortunately feeling so unwelcome ruined our stay.”

“Beware that you must exit your bedroom to go to one of the two bathrooms at the end of the hall, and that you must take off your shoes before going upstairs, a great idea, unless you have plantar fasciitis like I have.”
