Decent Food. Very friendly owner and team. Good enough facilities for the desert stay. Bon fire, black tea, nice breeze and the stars! Tiring hike up the highest sand dune point, but totally worth it. Lot of scenic pictures can be taken. A bigger bed and mosquito net would be a useful step taken by the owner

Nice Camp? We were very good welcomed. Dinner and Breakfast were Ok. Be careful there are mosquitos and the mosquito net we had for our double bed was not large enough to cover the bed. the 30 mn Camel ride was great. people are all very nice. You can avoid paying for the sand boarding, it is it worth doing...

For those are a bit adventurous this place has it all. We gathered at a designated Gas Station at Bidiyah with the rest of the group which consisted Indians, Arabs and Europeans. There were about 10 families in all. From the Highway we turned to the left and went past the Al Waseel Castle into the sands and drove for...

We stayed for a night at the Desert Retreat camp in November during a long weekend. It was a trip with 5 families including toddlers and elders, and everyone was very comfortable. From the meeting point at Bidiyah, the camp is about a 20 min drive into the desert, through a flat dirt track through a valley. So a decent...

We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to stay at least 2 nights to have more time to explore the dunes and get the full experience. Since many guests stay only 1 night the camp is empty between 10am and 3.30pm when the new guests arrive so we read / relaxed in the restaurant tent and went for...

WE picked the right place to stay. It was rustic, raw, and right near a great big sand dune that you could walk up whenever you felt like it. Desert Retreat Camp was the way to go. We had so much fun. Camel riding, sharing tea, great dinner, lovely company from other guests, the owner was fascinating. This was a...

We visited this place in October 2013 with friends (see my review dated November 2013) and we where very pleased. My only misgiving was that there could be some more Omani touch in the form of after dinner dates, coffee and halva. This had all been corrected, to the pleasure of our party. The camp standard remains basic, but that...
