I stayed here with my boyfriend for one night while traveling on South Island, we had a private en suite room. For a backpackers hostel it's absolutely fine! The only issues were that the shower was a bit wild so everything gets wet, and general cleanliness was dubious. We didn't use the pool/hot tub, but based on cleanliness were slightly...

The staff is friendly. The hostel is spacious. You have a pool and a spa, not really clean but OK The big advantage of this hostel is the living room and the balcony who is big and great to meet new peoples. Kitchen....ok :/

The hostel is so nice and really well looked after, the rooms and bed that I stayed in were really comfy. Also the pool is really nice, though need a towel to lie on if you want to sunbathe as the floor is the only option. Downside, the atmosphere was pretty rubbish. There wasn't a main common area, so hard...

The beds are clean and the bathrooms are clean for a hostel which can serve over one hundred of guests. Only the kitchens (they got three of them) are a little bit messy and you look in vain for a sharp knife or even a cooking knife. The pool is a little bit too warm, but the ocean is not...

No booking made we just turned up on the day to see if we could have a room. The French man on reception was very polite and helpful, we was given a double room in the front on the first floor, the room was basic but clean tidy with a toilet and shower, we had some noise till about 2230...

First arrived and woman on reception did not make a good impression. Seemed very tired and was quite dismissive. The reception is also what later found out to be a a dark, dull common room. we had to go downstairs (filthy, covered with mud and leaves) and outside across a dirty gravel roas to get to our room. Which means...

I've stayed in half a dozen Kaikoura hostels and Dusky is probably my favourite - there's a good atmosphere, the staff seem to go the extra mile and you have the pool/hot tub option if you wish to cool off/heat up! I stayed in a private ensuite which are almost at a motel standard (the slightly erratic shower is what...

This hostel is a bit too "party" place but overall ok. Rooms are quite small, with no lockers (lockers are available in the hall for $2) but fit their purpose and each room has a heater. There are 3 kitchens and common rooms which is great because it usually does not get overcrowded. Sauna is great, pool also, however water...

We stayed in a private double for two nights which was good value. The room was comfortable and had a tv which was good. The bathrooms were fine and quite clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the wifi worked well. There was plenty of communal space both indoors and out but the problem we had was that the...
