Very clean and spacious room (single) and all common spaces (living room, bathroom and kitchen). 5 min walk from the town centre. Mike at the reception was very helpful and friendly. If you visit Kaikoura, go for it!

This hostel is honestly wonderful, the rooms are clean, comfy and perfectly adequate for two people. The kitchen has everything you could need & free tea, coffee and biscuits were just an added bonus. The bathrooms are clean, towels supplied, hot, high pressure showers. I wish we could have stayed longer as this is honestly one of the nicest hostels...

Amenable hosts, clean rooms, fun environment, great facilities. The Bad Jelly is the best lodging I've ever had on the road. Very good value. The rooms are worth every penny that you pay for them and then some. I really can't recommend this place enough.

After the earthquake on November 14, 2016, my husband and I were stranded at the Puhi Puhi campsite (DOC site) with our camper van. We hiked out and made our way to Kaikoura to contact our families back in Canada. After that was done, we realized we needed a place to stay as we had no access to food, water...

Mike was a good host for 'Jelly Packers' and he does everything such as cleaning it and making sure is well maintained. We will be sure to visit again Kaikoura and stay...

It's such a cozy hostel here! The Lady owner is kind and friendly! There are not many rooms, so everything is organized! The house is next to the road but trust me, you won't feel noisy at all! I can tell the owner must operate here with 100% passion and heart, tidy and clean everywhere! The most important is all...
