Greeted by owners when we arrived with a friendly chat. Units very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice area to sit out at picnic tables or bbq. So quiet at night, no road traffic noise at all. A little bit out of town, probably not walking distance, but worth it for the quiet location. Jan and Graeme very hospitable.

Rooms are spacious, clean and basic. Location isn't great if you're on foot but no problem with a rental car. I was upgraded in order to get a mountain view, which was unexpected but nice, nonetheless. Unfortunately the weather was so bad I only saw the mountain on departure! Be mindful that the free wifi is not available in your...

The cottages are very clean and spacious in a lovely pace in the south bay of kaikoura , only 2km far from the city center. If you are lucky, as we were , the owner will invite you to catch crayfish and after that to eat it with him . Wonderful experience

Kaikoura itself is very touristic. So we chose to stay in the quieter South Bay (a tip from Lonely Planet). The accommodation is located in a normal resident area, there are no other motels around. The cottage complex is small, 5 Cottages and 2 motel units are very near to each other. The motel unit itself was very spacious but...

Spent a night here at Bay Cottages and we were pleasantly surprised at how peaceful and beautiful this place is. Situated along South Bay Parade away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre (which is only a couple of minutes drive away), the view from the front of the establishment is breathtaking! Our host, Graeme was very hospitable...

We found this cosy little place and were plesently surprised. The rooms are spacious, functional and very clean. And we were even lucky enough to join Graeme on his daily run to catch crayfish. We were even able to see his superb motorcycle collection... We can certainly recommend this place!

Bay Cottages is just perfect if you want quiet comfortable accommodation, self contained with everything you need including laundry facilities. Light, bright, clean and roomy. The cheapest and best we stayed at during our three weeks in NZ. Owner Graham is extremely friendly and helpful and it's true, he will take you cray-fishing if you're lucky! Thank you Graham from...

This motel and our stay in Kaikoura were highlights of our 19 day trip to New Zealand. Graeme and his family are the most friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts you'll encounter. And we were lucky enough to enjoy his morning boat trip out to check his crayfish pots (huge lobster-sized crayfish are the specialty there) and to get to taste...

Rooms are fine at this nice motel at the south side of Kaikoura Peninsula. Nothing special, but spacious, clean and very good value for money. What makes this place really special is the extremely friendly host. Graeme will help you with everything you want to know in and about Kaikoura. And if you are lucky, he might show you his...

We unfortunately only had 1 day in Kaikoura, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bay Cottages. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful and greeted us as we arrived. He escorted us to our cottage and chatted with us about the area and gave great recommendations for where to eat. We told him we wanted crayfish and he suggested...
