A great place in a small town. Warren and his wife do a splendid job of running this hotel. Beautiful rooms with a minimalist design but with everything a traveler needs. Coffee maker, wifi, minibar, parking, excellent breakfast, an awesome sea front view, oodles of character and Warren's endearing personality. Wish we could have stayed longer than the one night.... Funny you should mention bathroom shelving. Warren's running around working out how to incorporate more shelving as I write. I won't tell him about the lovely comment you made about his endearing nature until he's installed at least 6. Thanks for your review :) More

Just spent 2 nights at a gem of a hotel in Kaikoura. Great location overlooking the sea. The bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom was great. Warren was an attentive and extremely helpful host. Highly recommended!

Just stayed at Kaikoura Boutique hotel. We loved our little room -- it was full of character and had everything we needed for a two night stay. My husband thinks it's the best shower in New Zealand. The location is fantastic for the best restaurants in town and from the moment we walked in the door we were treated like... More

We really appreciate getting feedback about our cute little courtyard rooms - they are gorgeous. Thanks to the Marimekko wallpaper and furnishings, they're getting the nick-name of "the happiest rooms in the land". Have to agree with your husband, the showers in these rooms showers are fabulous. Glad you loved it. More

You know you had a great stay at a hotel when you feel compelled to hug the owners goodbye :) My husband and I loved our stay here. The owners, Warren and Jen were incredibly hospitable from the moment we arrived. They helped us book tours, provided great recommendations for food and activities, and really made us feel at home.... More

We had a small yet comfortable room with a private balcony. The owners were very nice to us. We had to wake up very early (4:30am) to swim with the dolphins. So we left our luggage in our room. When we got back at 9:30am, we had extra towels to take a hot shower after our very cold dip in... More

The dawn Swim with Dolphins is a profound, exhilarating experience. Love watching guests come back from it. You're not the first to be grateful for the hot shower - appreciate you mentioning it to the world in this review. Mwah! More

Passionate about their guests' comfort, beautiful setting, wonderful visit. The couple who own this hotel treat each guest's needs - for dinner advice, for breakfast, for regional highlights. Or leave the guest alone, if that is the guest's wish. We happen to need their assistance navigating new terrain and they were a delight to meet. Be sure to enjoy the... More

A genuinely warm welcome was provided by owners and staff. Great advice provided regarding less obvious wild life spotting opportunities. The hotel is situated in a stunning location opposite the beach lined with Norfolk Pines, at the quieter end of town. Compact rooms are set around an attractive open courtyard and have good sized bathroom/toilets. Breakfast (extra charge) is a... More

Kaikoura is a destination in its own right that's only just come onto the international tourism radar. Whales, dolphins, seals, charter fishing, wildlife encounters, clay-bird shooting, horse trekking, kayaking, local providores, artisans, cultural-historical sites, golfing, wining and dining - I could go on. Yep, there's plenty to do in beautiful Kaikoura. Plan to stay at least two nights. Thanks for... More

This hotel is in a great location and Nina was a wonderful ambassador for the property. Room 9 overlooks the water and is very spacious. Breakfast was really good. Since taking over the hotel January 29, we were unable to get routine maintenance in place till end of March. You rightly mention carpet cleaning, which was top on our list of priorities. Done, done and doner! (Is that even a word?) Suffice to say, every carpet in this hotel now gets professionally deep steam cleaned every 90 days, whether... More
