Adorable and quirky hostel. Awesome dorm was lovely, with individual plugs and curtains. It was a wee bit chilly but there's a heater so no worries there. You have to pay for WiFi but you get 100gb for 24 hours. Staff are super friendly and helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere here, with communal dinners by donation. It was that...

Albatross is a charming little hostel 5-10 minutes from town. I initially regret booking there because there were hostels in the center of town but then i realized that many activities such as the Dolphin swim and Kayaking were on the same block which was helpful when i had to wake up at 5am to do the dolphin swim. The...

I stayed here twice and both times I absolutely loved it! The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is well organized and thought out (and has a baking box! If you use the ingredients from it you have to share, and sharing is caring), they offer free bikes for excursions into town, and have a variety of activities at the hostel....

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm. Good atmosphere, comfortable and a place full of personality. It is not the closest backpacker to town, about 10 mins walk to the naked bus drop off. However since my main reason of going to Kaikoura was the swim with dolphins tour, the location was perfect. It's just a 5 min walk away...

I spent a couple of days in Kaikoura for the dolphin swimming and choose the Albatross Inn for accommodation, a reallly good choice! The staff is very friendly and the common room really feels like a livingroom back home. There is a good atmosphere and the owners make you feel at home. One day when it was raining all day...

I had a great stay at Albatros! Spend there a few days waiting for the rain to stop. Reading, playing boardgames and going for hikes in the surrounding mountains. Very nice and helpful owners! Cyclist friendly :) Would stay there anytime again!

I contacted Albatros Backpackers 2 days prior to my arrival and luckily they still had a free bed for me. The reservation was really friendly as was the reception once I got there. The bed was very clean but the mattress wasn't in the best shape. everyone in our 8-bed-room was very quiet once they came in. The kitchen and...

This is a great hostel run by two people that are obviously passionate about what they do and incredibly professional. It's busy and the communal space is cosy but a great space, it's clean and tidy with a heavy musical theme. Ideal for travellers

This hostel is lovely, you almost feel at home here and Katie was really welcoming and very bubbly :) however, we had a room right next to the toilet and near outside and we got NO sleep both nights we stayed. It's not even the hostel problem but writing this review to let people know if you stay here, request...

It is a family-owned, cute little hostel with a great atmosphere! A lot of free stuff, e.g. guiars, ukuleles, colour for painting, herbs and spices, games, bikes, ... The rooms were big and everything was clean!
