One of the best hostels I've stayed in new zealand. So familiar and nice, best common area with games, guitars, etc. You will always find nice people here. Everything is clean and kaikoura is a small and beautiful town.

We had a nice stay in Kaikoura and even stayed a night longer. Due to the latest earthquake it takes its time to get there, but it’s is really worth going to Kaikoura. The room (double) wasn’t big and missed a chair for the clothes. However it was close to the showers and toilets but not noisy at all. The...

Stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend and had a great stay! First of all we loved the chilled out atmosphere and friendly owner, the rooms were a little cramped but fine, the kitchen area was good and the showers are amazing. Kaikoura is a beautiful place and you should stay here when there!

This is a well placed hostel in Kaikoura with a good atmosphere and decent size rooms. The evening BBQ put on by the owners Ben & Katie was delicious and a great way to meet the other residents and Katie's desert of Banana cake was delicious. Like a lot of hostels it can be a bit noisy until everyone goes...

I have stayed in lots of hostels around the world, and I think all of them could learn something from the Albatross. It is perfect. The common room is beautiful, vibrant, and welcoming even before you make it through the front doors. I stayed their as a woofer for about three weeks in July, and then visited once more for...

Albatross is hands down my favorite hostel in New Zealand. I loved it so much I looped back around the South Island to return just to stay at the Albatross. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful (shoutout to Tim and the gang). It has a cozy and colorful vibe that will make your time in Kaikoura extra memorable. The...

This hostel ticked ALL the boxes! Fantastic atmosphere, our room was very cute and very clean, the showers were probably the best showers I've had at a hostel. Friendly staff and an easy check in. Would recommend to anyone looking for a proper kiwi hostel experience!
