It used to be an old rural school, and based on the price don't be surprise with the old place. However you can find everything you need here, everything is well maintained except that it looks old. We had both of the cabins, because I had my parents with me which they are not so an outdoor person to stay... More

Very happy with our stay! Being winter the campground was very quite! We didn't use any of the facilities provided but our site was right on the beach and away from the main area! Wifi was only $2 and was accessible in the site which was a huge plus!

I stayed in a 2 bunk cabin although it was just myself. It was cute and cosy with a TV, fridge, toaster and kettle. The main area in the house had a fully equipped kitchen and large dining and lounge area which was a lovely space. The owners were very nice and friendly. Lovely park and definitely recommended.

A few km north of Greymouth, off SH6. A busy old lady keeps an eye on everything that happens at this camp. The grounds are right at the seaside. The lower part is for tents and caravans, the higher part at the north side is for campers. Several places have an excellent view over the sea, with some rocks in... More

My husband and I stayed here for a week to take photos of the sea stacks at a beach about 15 minutes drive away. We stayed at a powered site for a couple of nights and in a cabin. This is definitely not a shiny, new holiday park, but it has charm. The kitchen has cooking equipment and utensils for... More

The town of Greymouth has nothing going on and the holiday park there has no view. So headed north and checked out the Rapahoe Bay Holiday Park. The facilities are fine. The view from the ocean front powered sites are nice. The owner well, she's kinda crabby. She reminded me of my grand mother. Note to owner. Your in the... More

Yeah you're right - I can get crabby with campers, I must remember to put up with their rudeness and dirty behaviour in a more pleasant manner, been doing this for over 40 years, so no doubt need a rest. Oh did it occur to you I might gave been unwell, recovering from major surgery on my hip, There's always... More

I'm my opinion this is probably a top Place for overseas tourist who would possibly like the uniqueness of the place, myself not so much. Very much run down and the showers in the dining area is a bit strange. I thought it was overpriced considering what we paid in other locations for better facilities. The owners/management seemed pleasant enough... More

Some of this is fair criticism, the rest is subjective nonsense. The alternative to the showers being at one end of the lounge is no showers at all as Council will not allow any building with 100 metres of the sea, a condition they imposed only a few years ago, and which we have had to circumvent to some extent... Lovely old school house but the hosts were drunk and grumpy. Were told we had to pay for electric site as no non electric sites left then they put the next people in a non powered site. Lovely spot though. Also full of German backpackers who were everywhere. No hot water in toilets and only 3 showers for at least... More

I don't drink, so as one of the hosts I resent this. If there were no more non-powered sites left, and we only have a few tent-only sites, then it is the customers choice as to whether they take a powered one or not -no-one forces them to stay. It is entirely possible that the people on a tent site... More

Rapahoe is a lovely little place approximately 10 minutes outside of Greymouth. Lovely beach with cool rocks and crashing waves. Well worth it for the beach alone! The campground was quiet and pleasant to stay in. Though it was like stepping back into a 1930's school house, it was beautifully kept with extremely clean and functioning facilities. Nothing flash at... More

Lovely little campground right in front off the beach, we had a powered site where we could see (and hear) the ocean. We loved it! Sites are a bit small and facilities a little out dated but this place have character. Definitely enjoyed our stay here, place feels warm and authentic. Everything is sparkling clean and owners are really friendly.... More
