Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed a wonderful four night memorable experience at this venue.
The Grand is not your normal hotel, but an elegant home away from home with staff who treat you like friends and family. The manicured lawns and gardens are worthy of a post card and the furniture in every room has been tastefully selected to compliment the building period.
From the welcoming by Ben on arrival, and his tour of the premises, and explanation of the history of this historic building, we felt warm and comfortable at this venue.
Daniela and Mica were very friendly and helpful with their knowledge and advices of where to eat and visit. Thank you.
Our room, Chenin , was small, but very comfortable and it suited us to be in a convenient location to ammenities, and with no stairs, and we were mostly out exploring during the day.
We loved the private courtyard off our room, which was ideal to enjoy an evening wine and the cooling breezes.
The en-suite was petite but the shower was great, although it took some time to determine the hot and cold taps, and the ideal settings for a warm shower.
Our included breakfasts were a delight with a good cooked offering to our taste, but the fruit selections of the blueberry and rhubarb compote, and the poached pear were real healthy treats.
One needs to highlight the differences and the traditional scones, with jam and cream ; the afternoon teas and the peacefulness of the lounge rooms - the establishment has only 19 rooms , are specials at this venue. The staff here are excellent and the service could not be faulted.
Of course, for the more energetic there is the swimming pool and tennis courts, or even a leisurely walk through the gardens.
I suppose for us was the special consideration on my birthday, to return to our room and find a balloon presentation, with a gift of chocolates - thank you sincerely for the recognition.
We will certainly revisit the Grand Manor when next in Margaret River. Recommended for a real treat.

We have enjoyed everything Accor for years,..... it has been an amazing experience and so worth the investment. The "icing on the cake" has to be the wonderful hospitality and service at Basildean Manor. Danni and her team go out of their way to make everything so special, nothing is too much trouble.
On arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Amanda and checked into our COVID safe room, which was clean & beautifully presented, we were immediately relaxed and in celebration mode.
At breakfast the next morning my plant-based food requirements were accommodated for with enthusiasm and professionalism by the lovely cook.
The food is fresh and delicious.
The evenings in the amazing gardens were made so enjoyable by the picnic baskets provided & the well-maintained BBQ areas.
We have enjoyed every moment of our stay thanks to the wonderful staff, including Ian and Sophie who were just fabulous, we will return very soon.
Thank you, Danni and your lovely team for making our anniversary sooo special.

We stayed for 3 nights in November. Can't express enough the exceptional staff, their helpfulness, kindness and superb customer service. The building was amazing, full of history and pictures telling the story of the family that built and lived here.
Breakfast was outstanding and again nothing was too much trouble. The gardens which are overlooked in the conservatory are very tranquil and well maintained which also houses the outdoor heated pool, tennis courts and BBQ area.
The rooms are well maintained and suited our needs with tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge with complimentary water, a safe and iron. We were on the ground floor and had a court yard garden.
In the evening the fireplaces are put on in the reading rooms where you can relax with a coffee.
We felt very valued and would definitely would recommend and return.

This is such a beautiful heritage property, and when you arrive, the tour on the history is quite interesting. The gardens are amazing too.
However, for the price you pay, $300 average, our room was a let down. We were on the ground floor and could hear every step the floor above us was taking. We were woken up very early both mornings as you could hear next doors room flush their toilet and start their showers.
For the price you pay, i believe the rooms should be better condition.
And for a $35 dollar breakfast each, i wouldnt bother. Quite sad actually as it really ruined the whole experience for us. The eggs were microwaved and our “cappuccinos” came out with just a shot of coffee in a mug for us to add our own milk?
Spend your money locally at local cafe instead
👍☺️

Dear yasstimson, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent Manor stay. When paying a nightly rate at the Manor your breakfast is always included. As a guest of one of our members would be the only occasion to pay separate breakfast rates. I can 100% guarantee that there are never microwaved eggs. It seems we have disappointed you on this occasion however we would welcome the opportunity to change your experience at another time. Warmest regards, Daniela and the Team@Basildene

We had a one night stay here, luckily just before the lockdown and it really was a treat to be able to stay in such a beautiful hotel with the most amazing grounds. Ben greeted us warmly and was a pleasure throughout our stay. He was very kind when letting us know that the government recommendations had changed and we were required to wear masks. (We were very impressed that the remotes in the rooms were in sealed paper bags after being sanitised and there were sanitising stations throughout the hotel.) Ben also gave us 2 scones with beautiful homemade jam to take with us. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh, well cooked and beautifully attended by a lovely lady. My husband definitely appreciated the coffee machine! There were roos and birds to be seen from the breakfast room too. I have read previous reviews about kids spoiling the atmosphere and I would agree that it is not a place for children. The gardens and house are so peaceful that it would be a shame to have anything spoil the serenity!

We recently had a fabulous four night stay at Basildene Manor in Margaret River. The Manor itself is full of history and wonderfully maintained. The grounds are amazing, hats off to the gardeners. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Manor room, the room was quite small but immaculately maintained with everything we needed. Apparently the rooms all differ in size as they were built in the original Manor and bathrooms have been added. A continental or cooked breakfast is available but other meals need to be sourced off site. The location is an easy drive to all Margaret River has to offer. There is also a pedestrian path into Margaret River Townsite and the other direction to Caves Road. We both really enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend Basildene Manor for a short break in Margaret River.

If you want beautiful grounds, great rooms and staff who do everything they can to ensure your stay is wonderful then stay here!
After finding ourselves with nowhere to stay we stumbled upon this beautiful hotel. Hotel manager Daniela French and her staff did everything they could to ensure our stay was incredible. Daniela organised restaurant bookings, tours and recommended day trips - what more could you ask for!! We have loved absolutely everything she has organised and suggested and can’t believe how lucky we were to find this gem.
Our room was downstairs ( great if you don’t want to carry luggage upstairs) and was roomy and incredibly comfortable. All rooms are named after wines, a lovely touch. Whilst our room was very close to Reception, we were never bothered by noise of any kind. The beds are also very comfortable.
Breakfast (hot and cold) was delicious and the view was stunning. There are lounge rooms downstairs with fireplaces so you can sit and chat with other guests throughout the day.
If you want old fashioned ambiance set in a beautiful estate then look no further, you won’t be disappointed. The grounds are stunning and the service provided by all here is simply outstanding!
There is no room service or bar here but you won’t miss them. It’s a quick drive into town for a delicious dinner, or you can have take away delivered .
Basildene Manor is an old, historic home and you all feel like you are part of the family. Nothing is too much trouble - service here is simply superb!

This was our second stay and again really enjoyed it. The Manor is elegant, the gardens and grounds are beautiful and you can enjoy swimming in the heat pool, playing tennis or having a BBQ( they can supply you BBQ packs). You can opt to have breakfast there in the nice sun room overlooking the grounds or you can head out to the many breakfast cafes in the area(most open at 8)
The rooms are really nice and clean and comfortable.
Staff are great, friendly and helpful.

We spent three days at Basildene Manor and loved every moment. It certainly doesn’t look or feel like part of a hotel chain situated as it is in a 1912 stone building (plus sympathetic addition).
And they take COVID seriously with lots of sanitiser available and with a fortress-like screen at the front desk. Staff, without exception, are friendly and helpful. Special mentions for Ben (front desk) and the lovely young woman who served tables at breakfast (she was excellent).
Our room overlooked the stunning gardens and was very comfortable. Comfy bed, tv, bedside tables, small fridge and built-in robe with safe and ironing board. And a nice bathroom with a shower that was very good. The only downside in the bathroom was the lack of shelving but we worked around that. The towels were soft.
The gardens are stunning with manicured lawns, roses, an ancient oak, established trees, clipped hedges and the most beautiful crepe myrtles. There's also a pool and a bbq area. All very well done.
Breakfast is very nice and served in a glassed conservatory overlooking the gardens. Cereal, a choice of cooked meals (all very tasty), juices, fresh fruit, fruit compote etc.. An urn for tea and a snazzy coffee-making machine. This area is also available outside breakfast hours for tea/coffee and biscuits. Very popular.
There are also two small lounge area for guests. Include gas fires. Very nice on a cold day.
Highly recommended.

Four friends on holiday from Queensland, we have just had an amazing week at Basildene. This beautiful old heritage house is extremely well set up for guests, with spacious, clean suites. The Conservatory was a beautiful glass enclosed room available for breakfast (continental or full cooked at reasonable cost) and afternoon tea (complementary) and guest use later in the day. We spent many happy hours there. A guest laundry is complimentary as is tea and coffee (coffee machine not instant). The staff could not do enough for us and no request was a problem, even a basket filled with all the utensils, cutlery, crockery and condiments we needed for the on site bar-b-cue. The grounds are gorgeous and each room has a verandah looking out over the gardens.

How to do booking please?
Hi
You need to call them directly
Hi Tihana - Trip Advisor have forwarded this question to me - however you would have to contact Basildene Manor direct who will be able to answer your question on accommodation availability. Good luck!
Yes definitely ideal for a wedding. The gardens are exquisite and perfect for a wedding ceremony.
Sorry, i‘m Not shure about that. But I think there are enough rooms and the Place is Very Romantic. But May be the Kitchen doesen‘t Serve for Dinner. Best if You get Information directly from the Management.
