Our 8 rammed-earth cottages are fully self-contained, with each having 2 bedrooms (see note), fully-equipped kitchen, air-conditioned living / dining room and (shared) bathroom. Cottages are randomly scattered on our 20 hectare (50 acre) bush block and we're within easy driving (5kms) distance of Margaret River township, beaches, wineries, cafes, restaurants, shops and the region's best tourist features. All cottages have been completely refurbished and we're the equivalent of a 4-star rated property (4 gumnuts in our terminology). Free Wi-Fi is available in all cottages and (following a great deal of effort) can now support streaming. Note: Our lead-in tariffs are for 1 or 2 persons occupying 1 bedroom. If guests wish to use the 2nd bedroom, we charge an extra bed fee in order to cover the additional costs of linen and cleaning.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I have just had a wonderful 5 day stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages at Margaret River. It was so relaxing and after exploring the area it was always wonderful to come home to our little haven in the bush. Being rammed earth the temperature was always comfortable even though some of the days were pretty hot and a couple of the nights quite cool. There is reverse cycle air conditioning and ceiling fans and a wood heater if any of these are needed.
The cottage was so well appointed and had everything we needed. I was very surprised to hear that the cottages were refurbished 9 years ago. They are so well maintained that I assumed it was far more recent than that. I love that they are well separated from neighboring cottages so you felt as if you were the only ones there. We never heard any other people even though they were pretty much booked out most nights.
Due to being mid-summer there wasn’t quite as many birds as would be seen in the cooler months. But there were quite a few to be seen and heard - especially the red-tailed black cockatoos which are stunning birds. There are quite a few kangaroos in the adjoining farms. There are numerous tracks through the property so it is nice to wander around and enjoy the bush. The coast isn’t too far away and the Margaret River town is just 7kms away so you are pretty handy to all that is on offer in that part of the South West.
We thoroughly recommend a stay here. I am sure we will be returning in cooler weather to see what birds and animals can be seen.

Many thanks Carol for your comprehensive review. We took the bold step of refurbishing and re-equipping during the Global Financial Crisis, a decision which has paid off in spades. Subsequently, we've upgraded the 600 metre entry road, the power supply and the treatment of waste water. We love this property which we bought in 2001 and want to ensure that it's in tip top condition at such stage as we pass it on. Thanks again.

This stay was my first experience using AirBnb and it has left a positive lasting impression. I met Ange (the host) upon arrival who has a wealth of local knowledge and was more than willing to help anyway that she could. Once I was in the Cottage it was warm, welcoming and sparkling clean! A really pleasant 2 bedroom self contained accommodation that would easily suit two couples or a couple and kids. The location is fabulous, lots of local fauna to see on a daily basis and there is information supplied about some of the flora on the property also. Lots of great walk trails but just be mindful of the electric fence which is sign posted! The fireplace was well stocked with wood, firelighters and instructions for those not as versed in lighting a fire :)

Thank you for your kind comments. The fence is electrified to keep neighbouring cattle out. It gives a jolt, but nothing too serious.

What a fabulous place to stay. Quiet Bushland setting with the added bonus of kangaroos hopping past. The unit was amazing. Spotless, comfortable beds, most well equipped kitchen we’ve ever had, Large lounge, great water pressure in shower, wifi (sometimes a bit slow but you are in the bush and isn’t the idea of a holiday in the bush to get away and soak up the surrounds). Walking tracks to explore on property and only a few minutes drive from Margaret river town. Loved it so much we have booked a return stay.

This is the second time we have stayed in Cottage 6. Just perfect. We go away twice a year to the South West as two couples and have stayed in many properties. Normally there is something wrong but not with this cottage. This cottage has two bedrooms each with Queen bed which is preferable for us as two couples. Clean, comfortable beds and pillows and nice linen. Good storage and hooks in the bedrooms with good block out curtains. Hot, powerful shower and sufficient towel rails. All the amenities in the kitchen and a Weber and good outdoor furniture on the veranda. Lounge furniture is very comfortable for everyone to enjoy an evening home in front of TV. The kangaroos, with joey hopping in and out of the pouch, in the bush next to the cottage every evening are a bonus. The cottages are well spaced so you have a sense of seclusion and privacy. Hosts are very helpful and available at all times if needed. Last time it was winter so we enjoyed thewonderful inside wood fire and plentiful supply of wood and firelighters. This is definitely a great choice and in a fantastic location so close to the town of Margaret River that has everything.

This was to be our 3rd visit to Bussells Bushland Cottages in 3 years. We had booked for 3 nights and then planned to travel to the Great Southern region and visit Denmark and Albany before heading east to the Eastern States but Coronavirus, State border closures and within WA Regional border closures scuttled our plans. Then any plans to return to our home in Thailand were also thwarted. We found ourselves 'stuck' in Margaret River and what a place to get 'stuck'! Ange, the manager at Bussells Bushland Cottages, came to our rescue and offered us an extended stay and along with her husband Jon they made us feel very welcome and provided us not only with a lovely warm and comfortable cottage but fish freshly caught by Jon at his secret fishing spot and fresh herbs and chillies (most important) from Ange's garden. Ange and Jon were fantastic hosts and we can't thank them enough. The 20ha bush reserve that the cottages are located on made for wonderful and educational walks seeing many different types of birds and loads of kangaroos many of who would graze within meters of the cottage. The magnificent Jarrah and Karri trees and the other varieties of trees and flora that are spread throughout the reserve always impress. Thank you Bussells Bushland Cottages for a wonderful stay. We will return

We booked five cottages for the family to celebŕate my mother's 80th birthday, and my parents were over the moon to be in such a beautiful location.
The cottages were superb in every way. They were separated enough to be private, close enough for us to walk easily between them, super clean and well - appointed, and the wildlife were close by regularly - although we searched in vain for a possum on the possum trail!
Ang was extremely accommodating in rearranging the v cleaning schedule so that one cottage could be accessed earlier than check-in time. Both managers were very welcoming and helpful.
We will be returning to Bussells with friends and family.

Our 3 night stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages was perfect. The cottages are clean and very comfortable, and even though only a few minutes from Margaret River, the bush setting felt secluded and we really enjoyed the bird life and local wildlife. Also amazing service when we left a bag behind - staff went above and beyond to ensure it was returned to us. Highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Thank you for your very kind review. We've owned this property for 20 years and truly believe that it offers a unique experience for nature-lovers. There are wonderful walk trails and an abundance of bird and animal life; and the winter months enable our guests to settle back in front of cosy wood fires while reading or enjoying chees and wine in front of the wide screen TVs. Thank you again and we look forward to your return..

+1
This provided everything we wanted = natural surroundings, quiet, clean, close to nature, warm and cosy evenings by the fire, self contained and close to Margaret River. It was ALL that and I’d be pushed to find fault. We walked on the bush tracks on the property, saw the local kangaroo mob, enjoyed the quiet, had a cosy fire on the colder nights and felt rejuvenated. An excellent, clean and comfortable property, perfect for a break. We only wish we could have added a few more days and definitely will return next time we’re in WA. Thanks so much.

Luxury living in the bush - plentiful wildlife, peaceful rural setting. The cottage was well appointed with clean, modern amenities. On arrival the heater was already on with basic necessities stocked in the kitchen and bathroom. Sat outside enjoying the birds between the rain showers. Nice trails around campsite. Excellent internet. We’ll be back

Many thanks...it is always great to hear that our guests wish to return. I would add a cautionary note, however, that we do not bill ourselves as Luxury. We provide comfortable accommodation in a bushland setting.

Our 4 night stay at Bussells Bushland Cottages was just perfect. Our beautiful cottage overlooked the paddock which was always full of Kangaroos (to the delight of our 12 month old!). The log fire was great and made the cottage nice and cosy when relaxing of an evening, especially during the stormy weather outside. The hosts Ange and John were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The cottage was very clean and the beds were very comfy (with electric blankets too). The WiFi worked well and the location was ideal with plenty of things to do only a short drive away. We also walked along one of the walking trails on the estate which was quiet, peaceful but full of wildlife. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we’ll be back to visit again.
