Firstly, the hotel is in a fab location - very central to Launceston's CBD and parking is ample... Staff were pleasant and accommodating with queries etc. The hotel is in desperate need of a refurb though.. Rooms are a little tired looking and bathrooms are a throw-back to the 70s. I didn't eat at the restaurant but hear it is...

This hotel was well located, comfortable and easily accessible. The restaurant was excellent and I had a superb meal there. The service was excellent also, with friendly and helpful staff both at the reception desk and in the restaurant. However, the one huge fault was that there was ineffective soundproofing between the walls and I could clearly hear people talking...

Dear Jennifer W, Thanks for the review. I'm glad you found us friendly and comfortable and I'm hoping that our imminent refurb may help the noise issue so it would be great if we can welcome you back to BEST WESTERN Launceston sometime in the future. We booked the mecure on lastminute.com, and when we arrived at the address we were given, the building sign said best western plus. We were told there was a name change on August 1 and some other changes were being made. We expected 4.5 star and this is 2-3 at best. We did not get what we had booked or...

Dear Shaz B, Thank you for your review. I am very sorry you did not enjoy your stay. You are right in noting that Best Western took over this hotel in early August. We will be working very hard to bring its facilities and service up to the standards we demand and improvements are already being made. I do hope...

Mercure Launceston VERY SLIGHTLY DOWDY For European travellers, the Accor chains in Australia are appropriately (if confusingly) upside down, when lined up against the comparable brands in Europe. Thus, Ibis, which is Accor’s budget brand in Europe, here seems quite swish – at least the one in Sydney Airport, whilst Mercure, judging by this one in Launceston, is definitely the...

I made a last minute booking at this hotel on a Friday night before leaving Launceston. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the rudest males I have ever met. If it wasn't for the fact that we were tired, it was late afternoon and we needed a good nights sleep I would have walked straight out. I'm not...

I’m used to staying in 5 star hotels but the unfortunate thing about Launceston is that there aren’t any. How bad can 4.5 stars be? It wasn’t good. I booked the room online as part of a secret deal. Now, I like a hard bed and dislike the trend for hotels to boast about how soft their beds are, but...

We found this hotel very central to everything and the staff and service great....but the rooms are need someone with a bit of flair to do a makeover as they not very inviting. Could be fantastic but really needs to lift the quality of the rooms.

My husband I and were in Launceston on holiday for a few days in late June and booked the Mercure Launceston as a secret 4.5 star hotel room on lastminute.com. We were quite happy with the central location, perfect to walk to the mall, local restaurants and a stroll to the waterside, and the service of the staff at the...

The bathroom, whilst refurbished still has you showering in the bath, bit tricky as one gets older. Breakfast ( in dining room) is excellent. Food service for dinner is good, drinks with dinner service could be improved! Front desk service polite and business like and quick but a warm smile would be good. The thingds that really matter are generally...
