The hostel is definitely worth the price! I slept good and I liked my room (female dorm room) and that it had a balcony was also really nice! The staff is very friendly and they always help you out with everything! I really liked the woman who maked the beds, she was so nice and welcoming ! The only thing...

Stayed here for one night before my tour around Tasmania. The hostel is lovely, clean with good rooms. Price was a bit expensive for what it was. The location is not great. Far from shops or restaurants. And its unpleasant walk in the dark.

We stayed here in August for a couple of weeks waiting for our job to start and I like the place. The owner was always very helpful and the rooms were quite clean. I missed a couple of sockets here and there near the beds for people who'd like to charge their stuff as there weren't many however besides this...

My husband and l stayed one night here. We had booked online based on the price. $69 seemed cheap for a double room as opposed to our tent for $28 in the caravan park and besides the hostel was rated at 4 stars! Perhaps the building itself is worth that for standing since 1888 but the rest of the place...

I lived in this beautiful palace for 3 weeks in a female dorm. Comfortable single bed they gave me sheets and blankets. With TV for movies at night, wifi in my room, clean toilets and a lot of free food in the kitchen area. I would say that the kitchen needs to be clean deeply though, I saw a bag...

Stayed a week in this hostel, nice family ambient, among mostly farm workers, the common room is comfortable and nice when you want to have a movie night, the Arthouse's staff is pretty nice. Very easy to meet new people

Stayed here two nights and found the staff so enthusiastic about Tassie and kean to offer advice and help on what to do. Stayed in the big dorm which was great as no bunks. Couple of heaters in the room was great too. Beautiful location on the river, with scenic walkway to coles and in to town.

Thanks so much for a fantastic review of the hostel. For anyone reading this, the largest dorm actually have 8 single beds and 1 bunk in each and plenty of space. ALL rooms have their own heaters that can be controlled by you, not by a preset timer. The walkway along the river extends from the Cataract Gorge in one...

Nice old house with a few creaks and groans but if you don't want that then go to a new house and pay $200. Staff were friendly and gave us a run down as to where to find everything. We are a middle aged couple and stayed in a double room. It was neat and tidy with nice fixtures. Used...

Thanks for leaving an honest review. We are what we are and happy that you enjoyed your stay and found us to be good value. The kitchen mess is an issue which we had to address constantly this summer more than any other year. We do clean the kitchen 3 times per day over summer. The QVMAG certainly is an...

Well-equipped with a large industrial kitchen and bathroom facilities are fairly well maintained on each floor of the old colonial style building. The Wifi is excellent and we stayed for three days without any issues. The building is large enough that even when it seems as though the whole place is booked you don't feel like things are overrun or...

Wow, what a comprehensive review. Thanks for sharing your experience of the Arthouse. Just so everyone knows - the WiFi is FREE and unlimited, and there is also FREE tea & coffee in the kitchen. ALL rooms have windows that can be opened for airflow, and the room on the top floor (actually an 8 share) now has a vent...

It was a friendly place but probably could do with slightly larger kitchen and common areas. Given a lot of people doing the Overland Track stay here before starting, it would be good to set up something informal so people doing this can meet each other at the hostel as I met 5 people on the track who had stayed...

Thanks for leaving a review. We would certainly like larger common areas, but they do seem to suffice even during summer. We have 2 lounge rooms, 1 dining room and 1 courtyard. We absolutely do encourage people to meet up and share experiences or combine planning. We have the noticeboard in the lounge/dining area so perhaps a notice left up...
