We have stayed at this property before and weren't that impressed however it was close to the event we were attending. We arrived on the Friday night and told the restaurant was closed due to a gas leak but would be open for breakfast don't get that. Last year we stayed at the exact same time and told the restaurant...

I arrived in the evening and the staff were very welcoming. Food in the restaurant was good and service great. The room was good, the only challenge with the rooms is that they are near a main road so you do get traffic noise, other than that the rooms are fine. The hotel is a gorgeous place, just needs a...

Stayed years ago before it became Mercure. Rooms slot better. Clean but detailed cleaning could be better re dust and a few stray hairs in the bathroom. Having said that I would be happy to stay again.

Having stayed at many motels and hotels when attending an event at Hunter Valley we were blown away with the standard of Monte Pio compared to all the other places we've stayed. For the very reasonable price of $135 per night for 2 people this hotel offers so much more than most in that it is well maintained and clean,...

For the price ($135 ngt) I was expecting a lot less! Pleasantly surprised by both my room (queen bed + single bed, french doors to enclosed common balcony, lovely modern bathroom, nice décor, very clean) and the public areas. Great service by friendly staff, and they mix a perfect vodka, lime and lemonade at the bar! Would happily stay here...

Beautiful hotel has a lot of potential but it has funky energy which needs a good smoking ceremony or clearing. I'd suggest not staying in the rooms on the road, stuffy, windows don't open & the traffic is quite loud. Back of the building is much better particularly the cute balcony overlooking the pool. Friendly staff. Restaurant closed on Sunday...

The property is excellent, staff are very helpful and friendly. Food good. We will continue to stay here when travelling. The only thing that is lacking is atmosphere but that is not the hotels fault, as it really is a travellers stopover, and does not get a lot of passing traffic I think.

2nd time staying here now as hotel doesn't require 2 night minimum like some of the other hotels at concert times. Hotel is on the Rover Bus route for Maitland pick ups with bus stop just across the road on the New England Highway. Hotel is quite grand and quirky, obviously with a lot of history. Rooms were clean and...

Situated in a former monastery the Monte Pio is an interesting building with non-standard Mercure features though in other ways it is recognisable as a Mercure. Very comfortable large room and very good meal in the restaurant. Appears to be rather under-staffed and the general maintenance of the building and cleaning of our room were not to an acceptable standard....

The room was neat and tidy BUT - the fridge was not working with a towel shoved in it to mop up leakage. - shower water floods bathroom with slippery tiles - toilet up against vanity, have to sit sideways - cannot view tv from bed For $160 per night you would expect more!!
