We were made to feel so welcome & Stormy our Boarder Collie was greeted by Sassy their Boarder Collie, instant friendship. The cottage is comfy & warm & had all we needed for our stay. The dinner was a delightful 3 course home cooked fair which was served by Jake with quite some flair. The dogs had exhausted each other...

We loved our stay in this tiny adapted "settler's cottage". Charming and comfortable, with a delightful garden and countryside all around. Close to some wonderful wild country and to Armidale, our hosts were only too happy to help us with directions and advice about what to see where to go. Excellent breakfasts set us up for a whole day of...

Poppy and Jake (and Sassy) were so lovely and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The cottage was nestled in between beautiful fruit trees, flower beds and vines of ivy, and felt like a country paradise. It was so peaceful and rejuvenating to be surrounded by nature - both the gardens and the creatures who live in them. The service...

We were a very late booking for Poppy and her husband Jake but from the moment I phoned to book they were the model hosts. The cottage is just beautiful if you enjoy old Aussie charm & the breakfast in the garden was just sensational! Cokey the miniature horse, Sassy the border collie & Lilly the cat were a delight....

B&B a little south of Armidale. Poppy (and Jake) really take care of you with quaint two room accommodation with one double bed and two singles and bathroom facilities. I have stayed here a number of times when travelling to or from Queensland with my German Shepherd dog. Poppy's home made dinner with a bottle of wine is excellent as...

We arrived late at Poppy's Cottage but had a welcoming phone call with directions from Poppy. Jake was on hand to settle us into the comfortable cottage, which was quaint and comfortable. Breakfasts on the verandah were memorable and complemented by delightful company from Poppy and Jake. Some great suggestions on places to visit and eat provided us with a...

We stayed at Poppy's overnight recently, and without a doubt this has been the hardest place to provide an objective review, probably because it does not fit into a conventional B and B mode. We arrived on probably one of the coldest, most miserable days of the year, and that may have affected our response, as it took quite a...

Poppy's cottage is a lovely cosy cottage only 10 mins drive out of Armidale town. Its situtated on a property and it was so peaceful waking up to the quiet surrounds sitting up in bed with a cup of tea with the sun streaming in the windows. Poppy and Jack were just the perfect hosts! They were so gentle and kind with our little boys introducing them to Koki the miniature horse, letting them feed the chickens and giving them the job to let the ducks out in the morning. Poppy stocked the little cottage perfectly with Teas, Anzac Cookies, Port and Fudge and made the most...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Armidale Poppy's Cottage, set on 140 acres, is only 10 minutes from the heart of historic Armidale. As expressed by guests, "BEST BREAKFAST EVER" INCLUDED in the TARIFF. Enjoy cosy and warm accommodation in the "Settlers' Cottage" adjoining 1901 homestead. The Cottage is set in about 2 acres of established, leafy, English style garden, interspersed with old-fashioned roses, perennials, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables. With 2 bedrooms and ensuite, the cottage is totally private. Guests have the option of a delicious three-course dinner by candlelight, with complimentary bottle of local wine from the vineyard nearby. You will find chocolates and port in the cottage as an after dinner treat. Wonderful breakfasts include a large selection of fresh and poached fruits, yoghurt, freshly squeezed orange juice as well as a full cooked breakfast. This may be served during the warmer weather in the garden under the canopy of the fruit trees to the music of birdcall. Children may enjoy feeding the pet animals and collecting eggs from the hens. The new miniature horse, Coki, has formed a good friendship with Sassy, the adorable Border Collie dog. Poppy's Cottage is the ideal base to experience Armidale's culture and tourist attractions. Further along the road, visit world class National Park and spectacular waterfalls. (The walks in the park are stunning). A hike to the top of the extinct volcanic plug will be a marvellous experience to those who are eager to see kangaroos and wallabies. Enjoy tasting wines from the adjacent winery or sampling a delicious lunch in the gardens of the vineyard homestead during the weekend. Safe undercover parking for your vehicle if you should require. Your hosts, who have offered bed and breakfast accommodation for over 26 years to many returning guests, will look forward to making you welcome. ... more   less
