Wonderful private cottage, gorgeous comfortable bed and a bonus of two outdoor baths ! We enjoyed the luxury of lying in hot water outside in the wild West Coast weather, sipping lovely bubbly and eating grapes. The view of the forest from where we were bathing was breathtaking. It's not often your host has raised the food you eat, plucks...

If you are driving around New Zealand's South Island, stop for at least one, preferably 2 or 3, nights at the Birds Ferry Lodge. With a view over ancient forests out to the Tasman Sea, it is a glorious setting. Adrian is an experienced South Island guide and Alison is a marvelous chef. We had superb, 3-course, innovative dinners (she...

After a day's driving, Bird's Ferry Lodge was an oasis of peace and quiet. We enjoyed tea and homemade Scottish shortbread served to us as we relaxed on the outside deck, overlooking the hills, with the Tasman sea in the distance. What a great welcome from Alison and Andre! We unwound further in the outdoor hot tub and then my...

After a long days drive up the West coast no place could be more perfect to unwind. Peaceful location and wonderful views. Welcomed by Alison and Andre with tea and shortbread. The hot tub with its superb views was a must followed by Alisons delicious dinner. We should have stayed two nights. Extremely helpful with local sights to see too.

We stayed here for two nights but wish we have booked a few days longer, we don't want to leave. The cottage is very pleasant with a fully equipped kitchen and two places to have your meals all- fresco. The views are beautiful. Host Andre and Alison gives you good suggestion to explore the area.

We stayed here for one night in February 2011 on our honeymoon. It is a lovely little B&B run by Andre and Alison who could not be more friendly and welcoming. The views from the place are beautiful, overlooking only unspoilt nature and we can very much recommend the outside hot tub. The home cooked dinner was delicious - which...

Thank you Tony for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us. We are delighted you enjoyed Birds Ferry Lodge. It is such a shame that you did not appreciate the unique natural setting, for this is exactly why we chose to build in this fantastic semi-remote location, but we appreciate it is not for everyone!...

Driving up to the Lodge you really feel as if you are are miles away from anywhere and you are, but the cottage is so well set up that you don't want to leave - the outside baths looking out over the sea, the beautiful meals provided by Andre and Alison - absolutely stunning! We stayed at the Birds Ferry Cottage for 2 nights, with a package deal that included breakfast, champagne, massages and cottage dinner. We arrived after a spectacular drive and went straight to the cottage, which was clean and prepared for our arrival (with a special friendly welcome note awaiting us on the blackboard and a bottle of chilled bubbly). We...
