The staff were amazing especially Fiona, the lodge manager which made our stay a relaxing and comfortable one. The view from the room was spectacular I couldn't take my eyes off, with rainbows spotted and beautiful fluorescent ice caps at night. Fire place kept our nights warm and cosy. We will definitely return again.

Thank you to all the incredible staff…. Hinekehu, Pollyanna, Kat and the rest of the wonderful team! The space is incredible, food great and staff exceptional… we had such a wonderful stay!! We were delayed in getting to Matakauri due to being trapped at mount cook because of landslide and the team were very helpful and accommodating in shifting our stay a day. We really loved our private yoga with Sandy and the bath looking out at the incredible view was just such a treat!!! Our only suggestion / constructive feedback is around the massage and tv. When we checked in there was an issue with the tv that meant we couldn’t change tv channels…. Neither we or the staff member checking us in could resolve this and it didn’t get resolved over the stay. Not a big deal but a minor annoyance as my husband likes to watch news in background (actually maybe a hidden upside for me to not have that in the background 🤣🤣🤣). And the massage therapists were lovely but didn’t seem very experienced and my husband’s massage was very soft. I know it is really hard for hospitality to find staff at the moment so maybe they were new therapists but as I specifically asked for really firm remedial massage for husband I would have preferred if team had explained they didn’t have very experienced/ strong therapist available and we could have organised something else (particularly as we had a shorter time in Queenstown due to the weather issues). But overall an incredible stay and highly recommended!!!…

Some of the best walking we have done in NZ all clustered around the lodge, Historic points of interest too. Beautiful lodge with truly wow views. The staff are best in class globally. Thank you Matakauri Lodge!!!

Matakauri Lodge was the perfect destination to end our holiday in the south of the South Island! What a treat - from being collected off the helicopter to begin our 4 days of luxury to saying goodbye to the wonderful team who exceeded our expectations. Indulgence, fine dining, world class panoramic views, a balanced blend of activities and pampering .... we had it all. Just a gorgeous place to be!

A wonderful lodge experience from check in to departure. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Our spacious studio apartment looking straight at Lake Wakatipu across to Cecil Peak was excellently appointed and 100% private.

My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary by staying here for one night. We could not of been more happy with our decision, Fiona and her lovely team went above and beyond to make our stay special. They really make the experience staying here a special one. Not only is the accommodation beautiful and comfortable but the meals and service are wonderful. Definitely 5 star! We can not wait to come back hopefully this winter as I can imagine it would be breathtaking with the mountains! Highly recommend treating yourself by staying at Matakauri! We had such a magical stay at Matakauri Lodge. A true oasis !The food was exceptionally delicious, great cocktails, local wines, and such an incredible team of lovely people there to host you. The decor is timeless and elegant, and rooms wonderfully private and comfortable. We can't wait to come back.

The Matakauri Lodge is magical. The comfort and quality of our stay was unprecedented. The staff's professionalism and service made us feel we were at our home away from home. I've spent approximately two decades in customer service. The quality and guest experience at Matakauri Lodge exceeded my highest expectations. If there were one place on Earth we'd return to it would be Matakauri Lodge. The property offers breathtaking views that cannot be appreciated through pictures. You must experience them with your own eyes. Even on a day when it rained, the serenity filled our hearts with happiness. I've never felt so relaxed in my lifetime.

From the moment you are met by the team as you drive up and take in the warmth and beautiful surroundings you know this is a very special place! Room was exceptionally furnished with clean, modern, warm tones. the view, second to none, the fireplace, patio, spa bathroom all wonderful. The front of the house and the restaurant teams are all exceptional friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We looked forward to our interactions and the exceptional food! The food, freshness and presentations were world class! We will definitely include a stay here again when we return to NZ!
