I have stayed at Rydges Queenstown a few times and would return. But for the prices we paid this time I would have expected a much better standard of room. We where in a Deluxe twin room over looking the lake. The views are stunning. The room is shabby the carpet needs a good clean. Bathroom ok. The plus side...

Small, dated room. View was OK - though there is a big swath of shared balcony aka roof in front of the rooms. Tiny shower - if you're on the portly side, you're unlikely to fit. Service was decent at the front desk. A budget hotel that is comfortable enough, but far from luxurious! I'd stay here again when on...

It is all about the view and this place has it all! Nice rooms with balcony and location is great for wandering, shopping and eating out. Good beds, quiet atmosphere and great customer service. Also a great bar.

This is a big hotel right on the beautiful lake. The dining room is on the 6th floor and affords amazing views of the lake and surrounding scenery. They do a reasonably priced express continental breakfast ($9), unlike many other hotels we stayed at. 2 double beds per room but beds were a bit hard. The wooden furniture was quite...

After stupidly reading reviews about the Rydges the night before we left I thought "surely it can't be all that bad!?" (the website photos and info look amazing) ... but my positivity was pure ignorance! Having to enter one lift, leave at the 5th floor, walk to another area of the building, and then enter another lift, just to get...

Family of 8 was accommodated easily in a very busy time of year. On special request we were all located next to each other which was great with toddlers. Rooms were comfortable and a good size. House keeping were friendly and pleasant and helpful.

Only 5 mins walk to town center, very conveniece for shopping, eating and searching for the travel agent and activities. Lake-view room was pefect and it has a huge balcony to relax. The hotel has its own reception for activities booking and arrangement. All staffs were very kind and friendly. The food of the bar and the restaurant was very...

Stayed in the one bedroom unit on the upper level for three nights during the marathon. Everything was ok. The place is looking decidedly run down but you do have a comfortable sleep. Service was ok although I am still waiting for them to send something that I left at the hotel. Views were pretty special. Not sure if I...

If you believe the TV series then it's all about "location, location, location"... Well this hotel certainly has that... unfortunately it no longer has anything else... The amazing views over Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkable cannot compensate for the tired and dated interior and services of the hotel. The staff unfortunately seem to take their lead from this too,...

From bleach stained carpets to 70s bathroom, the hotel is beyond tired. Think falling down exhausted. The location is the only thing going for it and, with so many well located hotels competing for the market, this just wasn't enough. Try a hostel. They have the same view, the same decor AND they are closer to town.
