It has got high ceiling rooms, feels spacious. Kitchen is large. Wifi is good but sometimes doesn't work in rooms but works well in shared areas. It is very close to Little India - food choices, has a subway next door.

Tuatara lodge is a large but cosy hostel in the city centre of Invercargill. A friendly relaxed atmosphere greets you as you walk into the Tuatara Backpackers. A clean and spacious hostel with a super kitchen with the best facilities is what you will find when you stay at the Tuatara. A perfect location right in the heart of invercargill...

Stayed for two nights in a four bed dorm, big kitchen and nice clean rooms. Cafe down stairs does a great breakfast even better with the 15% off definitely recommend the corn fritter stack. Part of the kiwi experience

A friendly relaxed atmosphere greets you as you walk into the Tuatara Backpackers. Kay the manager will make you feel right at home with her welcoming smile. Enjoy a coffee lunch or one of the fine craft beers in the modern hip Cafe with a further discount for overnighters. A clean and spacious hostel with a super kitchen with the...

The kitchen is the most dirty i have ever seen in a hostel in nz - and i have been at a lot. No soap to clean dirty dishes so they just lay all over. When i told the receptionist this in a nice way She blamed me and Said that I didnt ask for soap ( i arrived at...

The room smelt very unpleasant after feet and at the same time very sweet. Really clean it wasn't there either. We were not too sure if the linens were fresh. Because of the entire room, I got an allergic reaction and my eyes are still itchy. In the hallway in front of the kitchen it smelt of urine. Very loud...

OK, firstly disregard the management photo of the cosy welcoming couch - that's in the coffee shop downstairs. This place is a dump, it stinks of old chip fat and the carpets are wrank. The whole building looks like it's on antidepressants, it's just unloved and unserviced. I wore flip flops all the time so my feet didn't come into...

Sorry your stay was so unpleasant. This photo of the building is not actually our building, it is an empty council building at the back of our Lodge. The photo of the elevator is an old antique photo we put up for a bit of fun, and the reason we say no jumping in the elevator is aimed at the...

We stayed here for two nights and I can honestly say that it has been the worst hostel I've stayed in during my time in New Zealand. On the first night, our group of 6 were checked into a 8 bed room which already had 4 people in! That meant that 2 of us didn't have a bed! One of...

I mean let's just start off with saying : what do you expect in Invercargill? But seriously, this isn't the greatest hostel - the kitchen is semi clean, I could not find a single intact pan/pot, the hot water wasn't working and the fridge wasn't the cleanest, either. We slept in an 8 bed dorm that smelled like sweat and...

Until now, I haven't had any problems with any hostel or accommodation in New Zealand. Stayed for one night with my friends at Tuatara Lodge in Invercargill and not happy with the service provided at all. The staff checked us into the wrong room (which was already taken), so we went in and woke up the person in the room....
