It's so horrible and to be honest by far the worst hostel i have been staying in my entire life ,hostel owner are rude and without basic manner ,he will keep saying some word that implying you are dumb and irresponsible ,the whole house vibe are weird and uncomfortable ,we leave as early as we could because i cant stand...

This is the by far most worst hostel that i ever stay in nz. We get the booking in booking.com and it say that we need to check in by 6pm. Ok we check in around 6 by that time we reach the owner say they don do eftpos but only cash so we going back out again to bank...

I have stayed at Sparky's at two different occations and have enjoyed it equally both times. Sparky and his wife are just amazing and really make you feel at home. For example I was just sitting there talking to them while they were having dinner and they suddenly offered me to share it - an awesome indian curry if I...

Sparky (owner) was nice enough, but appeared to lack interest in this business and was more interested in doing up his vintage car. Hence, the place was rather 'run down' and it was obvious cleaning wasn't a priority. It is situated on a very busy main road and parking could be a problem, although, we were lucky enough to get...

My friend and I stayed here as it was one of the two hostels Invercargill seems to have to offer. Had a bit of trouble locating it as it's a little hidden off a main street and there's no major signage for the place. Hostel was in good condition, rooms were clean and it was close in to town so...

This is one of those times I wish I could give lower than a 1. Sure the hostel was clean and the bed was comfortable but it was a little cold in the hostel itself. So why a rating of 1...attitude. I was staying 1 night so I could catch the ferry the next day to go to Stewart Island....

Six of us arrived mid evening before our trip to Stewart Island the next day. It was noticeable in the dark as it had a collection of old railway signals etc outside. There was the most eclectic collection of mismatched objects and decorations that I have ever seen in a hostel, starting with an item to the left of the...

A bed to sleep in and that's it. Was cold as hell, the dorms smelt of mould and damp, the manager asked us if we could pay cash before even welcoming us in and there were a bazillion rules. Tiny kitchen, the loo was like sitting on an ice block and worst of all, the manager regaled us for hours...

Stayed here for just one night, welcoming host. Kitchens a little small for the number of beds (just the one oven and microwave). We stayed in the Egyptian room which was certainly individual! The lounge was very comfortable with a warm fire.

We checked into Sparky's early in the morning but the place was heaving with backpackers getting ready for their day so we headed out and went back when it was quieter . Our room , the Burt Munro Love Shack ,was an old tin shed out the back with eclectic mix of old props from the film and a big...
