Wonderful welcome from Ian and Jenny. We felt very privileged to be able to stay in 13 acres of bush created by their hard work. To see- and hear - Tuis, bellbirds and yes even a Fernbird was a wonderful experience. We loved our stay in this beautiful, peaceful place

We arrived very early in the morning (a bit too early cause we wanted to catch the flight to Stewart Island), and nevertheless our hosts welcomed us with a hot drink and a nice first chat. Well, cause of thick fog we had to cancel the flight, and spent the afternoon in Bushy Point Fernbirds. Ian went with us around...

Staying at this Eco B&B is just like staying with friends. The hosts, Ian and Jenny, are wonderful and make every effort to ensure that you get the most out of your stay, which in our case included taking one of our group to a local doctor to get an ear infection sorted out! Having devoted themselves to the preservation...

This B and B was by far the best place we stayed during our 2 weeks traveling NZ. It was off the tourist track. Location is fabulous as the owners had reforested the area and it is continuous with national protected land and a great site to view birds and walk along marsh area. Ian took us on a hike...

We loved this B and B. Ian and Jenny were so welcoming from the minute we arrived! Offered a cuppa and some chocolate! Great after a long drive. They have a lovely home with great facilities, even allowing guests to share the kitchen if they want to cook, and giving us fridge space too. Ian took us on our bush...

If you're traveling from Milford Sound to the Catlins I would advise you to stop at Ian & Jenny's place. Their house is beautiful, breakfast is amazing (organic products), you'll get to see different species of birds (tui...) and visit & explanation on forest & bush in the south by Ian. The rooms are lovely and if you have kids,...

Bushy Point Fernbirds was our favorite stay during three weeks of exploring the best of the South Island. Full disclosure, we like to get a bit off the beaten path, especially in tourism-heavy countries like New Zealand. At Bushy Point, we felt that we had found a hidden gem as soon as we reached the end of the gravel road...

My husband and I stayed for two nights in January with Ian and Jenny. We were both suffering from colds and Jenny was just like a Mum to us both doing all she could to make us feel better! Ian gave us a fascinating tour of the reserve and taught us lots about the flora and fauna which we found...

Our stay here was one of the most memorable experiences during our NZ trip. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jenny and given a few good dinner recommendations in town. The room itself was very comfortable and stylish, with a huge bed, very comfy bedding, and a pile of bird books! The room we stayed in had big...

On a five week visit to New Zealand we stayed at Fernbirds on our second night. We received a wonderful warm welcome from Ian and Jenny, and sat drinking a cup of tea watching Tui and Bell birds out of the kitchen window! What a start ... then we settled into a beautiful room with balcony then a walk around...
