This hostel is cheap and you can tell why immediately. They don't even have bins in each room. There aren't enough showers and toilets to go around. Not enough plug sockets for everyone in the rooms either. I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't come back.

The location was good and it was a cheap place to stay. There is otherwise nothing good to say about this place. It is in dire need of a bit of TLC. Kitchen is a mess. The reception staff doesn't know enough about Dunedin to work there. It was noisy and you could hear people stomping around/talking on the phone...

We booked this hotel due to the good price, $50 for two people in a room with six beds. However, you get what you pay for... The double bed we had was broken and uneven, showers were tiny and a bit moldy and the doors wouldn't automatically look when you left the room which could lead to random people entering...

I stayed there for 1 night only in a 6 beds bedroom. The rooms are average, bathrooms and showers quite old and not too clean however considering the price it is a great option for 1 night (or maybe 2). It is located very close to the Octagon (6 blocks) includes breakfast (variety of breads, spreads, cereals, tea, coffee &...

I stayed here for two nights and though the staff was very friendly and helpful, the place is old and needs a facelift, The bed was lumpy and saggy. The bathrooms were too few for the number of people in the hostel. The front desk closes down at 930 pm and does not open until 900 am! I bit late....

I spent 4 weeks in the Geeky Gecko's (worked there for accomodation) and I really enjoyed the time. Especially the atmosphere in the hostel was the best I've experienced in a hostel so far. Everyone is open and helpful and every evening people were sitting together in the comfortable lounge, but you can also find a place to have your...

The receptionist was really nice. bed, bathroom was clean. breakfast was not sumptuous but good and it was quiet in our room. Reasonably priced, good for backpackers. only con is the power turns itself off after 45mins but we found a way to avoid that (watch pic)

Terrible experience. None of the amenities promised were delivered. I booked a private double room for 1 night at a rate of $79 and felt completely ripped off. Free Parking - does not exist. We were told it was "not available". Had to park on the street around the corner. TV in the room - It was unhooked sitting on...

Easy to find, and located nicely in the centre of the city where everything is accessible, it was a relief to find this hostel in a city where everywhere else at a reasonable price seemed to be fully booked. Sure, it was about $40 per person per night, which I still think is overpriced for a dorm room, but by...

Felt like home, perfect location, close to the city center. Awesome living room with free access to computers. Good vibes. A bit noisy and cold in the room but we enjoyed our stay there. Helping and welcoming staff.
