This is the second time that we have stayed in this hotel, the last time being 8 years ago before the major earthquake. This buildings stands as a testament to forward planning and underpinning while others around it, including the iconic cathedral, have succumbed to Mother Nature. The location could not be more central; the building superb in its presentation...

We stayed one night at this hotel to start our New Zealand adventure. The building's exterior and shared spaces are absolutely stunning. The two-level suite was tremendously spacious with a full bath, living room and kitchen on the first level and two queen bedrooms with a second full bath on the second level. Additionally, both second-level bathrooms overlook the first...

Heritage Christchurch is a historic building from the 1900's. The hotel has a grand stone entrance, elegant lobby, with well equipped spacious suites. The bed was extremely comfortable with fabulous soft pillows. The bathroom had a large bathtub. Very high ceilings. Quiet. Staff was exceptional! Staff very friendly, helpful, and prompt. It is a treasure and it is very unlikely...

The hotel was good and its location is just perfect. However the Key Success Factor is definitely the staff. Very pleasant, very helpful. Neil deserves a special mention. We will come back. Thank you!

This is an interesting conversion of old government buildings, giving double floor apartment style hotel rooms with a full kitchen. Rooms are well appointed and clean. The downsides are that there is a lot of noise from the pub at one end of the building, there is insufficient hot water in the tank for two people to have anything other...

It was delightful to spend more time in this true oasis in central ChCh. It still looks like a bomb site around Cathedral Square. It's a political disgrace that the rebuilding is so far behind and that they can't make a decision about the old episcopal Cathedral. The Catholic Cathedral is to be rebuilt I believe... The hotel is spacious...

We had to change our booking at the last minute, but this was not a problem. The staff were pleasant and very helpful at each part of our stay. The rooms were great and more than we would have expected, even for a suite, and we had a very comfortable evening and night. The hotel represents a previous era, not...

My husband and I arrived at the hotel way in advance of check in at around 07:00. Natalie on reception could not have been more helpful. She managed to sort out a room for us which was available immediately rather than our allocated room. Given we had flown from Dubai via Melbourne and had been on the go for nearly...

Booked a two bedroom suite as there were four of us. The suite is multi-level - bedrooms and master en-suite upstairs; bathroom, lounge, kitchen and dining area downstairs. Worked out much cheaper than two standard hotel rooms and provided so much space. The swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym areas were well equipped and quiet - we were often the...

We, family of 4, stayed here in December 2016 in 2-bedroom suite, sadly just for one night. Our suite was 2 floors. First floor with spacious living room and kitchen area and bathroom. Upper floor with 2 spacious bedrooms, with heavenly beds, and bathroom, all fully equipped and very clean. The staff was service minded helpful and made us feel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean - nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel's grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement. ... more   less
