Position couldn't be better, at heart of city. Basic facilities, clean but "tired". Beds very comfortable. Shower just a trickle, but earthquake damage could have caused the problem. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food not up to much - salmon cakes had no salmon flavor, roast pork just average. Needs an upgrade, but I'd stay there again.

Exactly where you want to be located in this city. Cheap $110 with Breakfast. Receptionist was lovely and very helpful, arranged us the same taxi driver twice who was a great laugh and much more like a guide then a taxi driver, great value! We stayed two nights in different rooms. The Cathedral view room was much nicer than our... More

Stayed one night. Our rooms were large (rather corridor-like in fact) and tired. Both faced onto the alleyway at the back but that meant you got noise from the nearby backpackers, people "using" the alley in the night and finally, the rubbish-collection in the very early morning. Don't stay here if you want to sleep. We arrived late and the... More

We stayed for three nights at the Camelot before travelling on to Queenstown. Christchurch itself is a beautiful city and has a very European feel to it. We actually spent very little time in the hotel! The hotel itself was perfect for us. We paid only 59NZD per room per night which was as cheap as a hostel. The hotel... More

There were stains on the bedspread, bed, chair, and sheet. Thick dust by the lamp that did not work in any plug and especially not the one by the bed - which had a hole where the on/off switch should be. Old dribbled stains around the handbasin, where there was also a hairclip - left by the previous occupier. Thick... More

I stayed here for 2 nights and am impressed with the entire experience. The rooms are impeccably clean, and very comfortable. A nice relaxing atmosphere. Nice sized rooms...not small and pokey like many hotel rooms. The location is perfect! Right in the middle of the square with buses stopping all around you so never short of transport. Very friendly and... More

Arrived and was pleased to see position and that we had a view overlooking cathedral square. Room was large two double beds with electric blanket, but we always travel with hot water bottle. The reviews we had read were correct,it is noisy at night as the backpackers is next door and being central to other hotels the square is a stop... More

This hotel is in a very central location, but that also means noise from the Square and of course lack of parking. Other than that, the hotel was clean, rooms roomy, beds lovely to sleep in.

Good location right in the square overlooking the cathedral. Can get noisy with the single pane windows and the staff are not the friendliest. Big room and huge bed but 2 single mattresses pushed together with one duvet cover can be uncomfortable.

I've stayed in the Camelot hotel twice on different dates. The first night I had a room facing the cathedral and the cathedral square. It surely is a nice view but very noisy too! The windows are made of single glass and one of them couldn't be closed entirely. I heard every single noise - I even overheard people's conversations... More
