We stayed here due to being evacuated for the Port Hill fires. We found the price quite steep for the quality. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment. I don't think the place has been decorated since the 80's. The bedding was pretty poor quality but the beds were quite comfy. The kitchen - the less said about that the...

Stayed 3 nights in this motel as we were going on the Tranz Alpine train Christchurch/Greymouth/Christchurch. Motel owners offered to drive us to the train station and pick us up again when we arrived back, just after 6pm. Highly recommend this Motel as everything was very clean and tidy, owners very helpful and obliging - couldn't have asked for better...

In short, do not stay here. At a time when we had a relative flown urgently to Christchurch hospital we were unfortunate enough to end up with a room at Raceway Motel. The hospital only pay for one support person and I as the second support person offered to and was happy to pay for myself. The manager of this place...

The staff at this motel are terrific, friendly and very helpful. The motel is in need of some refurbishment though as at the moment it is looking tired. However, the beds were clean and comfortable. It is near a busy road so try to get a unit a good distance away from the road.

the owners are really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Made it a home away from home for us. Nice units with seperate kitchen. They provided transport to the hospital which was fantastic as we had to travel to Christchurch for surgery and their support was much appreciated at this stressful time

Friendly staff. Manager told us the place does not meet 48% of the current building code. Which is not a good start Room is very dated but comfortable. My partner describes it as simple The big the that is missing is somewhere to put cloths. Have to live out of a bag. Some road noise but it's ok. Would not...

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our month-long trip around the South Island. It was OK for the price, and was probably a very reasonable deal. There seemed to be many construction workers staying, as Christchurch is being re-built after the earthquake, but they were fine. The manager was overly jolly, and refused to supply milk...

Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly hosts.. Location very central to many facilities. Quiet well provisioned rooms. We extended our stay as it felt like a home stay rather than impersonal motel.

Great location for Tranz Alpine. Hosts dropped us off at the station and offered to pick us up again on our return. Unit was spacious with kitchen anf nice and warm. Comfortable bed. Only comment was that the kitchens were sparcely equipped - ie had an oven but no oven trays. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.
