I arrived at the hotel at 7 PM on a Saturday and the doors were locked and the restaurant closed. I waited for 45 minutes for someone to exit the hotel in order to be able to enter. As it turns out, the hotel left my room key in an envelope at the front desk. They had sent an email...

I am very sorry this happened. It is our procedure to send out the after hours notice when the booking is made, I will follow this up. There is a button on the side of the door labelled for emergencies only, this takes you to our night manager. We also have the night managers mobile number on the door. Once...

While this is a beautiful looking hotel with great room sizes, its quite tried. The rooms are dated, and the windows are nit double glazed which means that street noise can become an issue. The bed was very comfortable

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are currently working with Heritage NZ to look at changing the windows, as it is a category 1 heritage building we are not allowed to make changes to the outside of the building but hopefully we can come to a compromise with them. I'm glad you found the bed...

Had 2 nights here just after the earthquake at a weekend. Given a lovely big room with high ceilings and a bath with claw feet. Very comfortable and in a good location in CBD. No breakfasts as it was the weekend so we ate out. Staff very helpful but no one around after 7pm. Be careful to take your key...

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. As we are a boutique hotel we cannot afford to have the reception desk manned after 7pm but I'm glad you got hold of our night manager who lives onsite to let you back in.

We arrived at 9pm, when reception was closed and it was dark outside. Armed with instructions on how to enter the building, we desperately fumbled around, using our mobile phones to provide light to try and see what on earth we were doing. After what seemed like a lifetime of trial and error, we finally got in. Surely there must...

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm sorry that you found the instructions confusing for the lock box on the front door. i will revisit the procedure to see if we can make it simpler. I'm not sure why the lights were not working by the front door, they are programmed to come on at 7pm....

Stayed here over the weekend. The in-room information describes how the hotel is being progressively modernised. We stayed here 1 year ago and were impressed by the quality of the fit-out but this time we were given a smaller room and the fittings are already starting to look a bit tired ( e.g. the flush handle on the toilet was...

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. I'm sorry that the flush handle on the toilet was loose I have made sure our maintenance man has checked all the handles. As we are a 13 room hotel we have never had a night receptionist, our reception hours are 7am - 7pm. We do have an onsite night...

We stayed here end November 2016 for two night just few weeks after earthquake. Quaint old world hotel. Our room was clean and tidy.. bed was comfy. We did not eat here for breakfast but was always busy in morning. Great location and easy to everything CBD. Only complaint for room was shower pressure was a trickle but bath was...

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry about the shower not being powerful enough sometimes guests adjust the shower head nozzle which can cause it to slow to a trickle. Yes the noise off the trucks in the morning are annoying but sadly there is nothing I can do about it, believe me I have tried. Wishing you a very...

What a quaint, beautiful hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful, even the bar tender at the end of his shift at midnight. Loved the massive claw foot bath and wooden decor makes you feel warm invited. Lift a very cool authentic touch.

For the positives first: located in a quiet nook at the heart of the city and friendly staff - if and when you see them. It is really a dark, not well-lighted hotel and the antiquity of the building lends it a bit eeriely quiet when you don't see anyone. I was so unfortunate to be in a room at...

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm sorry you found the hotel a little spooky at night. Due to our small size we cannot have staff available for 24 hours a day. On Fridays we have live music in our downstairs bar but it finishes at 8pm so as not to disturb our guests. Two of...

The first night we stayed there had one of Wellington biggest Earthquakes. They sure know how to build these old buildings. Thank you for your lovely review. I am so glad everyone was safe during the earthquake. It must of been terrifying. Sam did an outstanding job that night. She put the guests well being ahead of her own. She is a survivor of the Christchurch quake and that showed on Monday morning. A lot of questions are now being asked...
