The access way off Lambton Quay makes this hotel close to the city and close to the highway off the Terrace. Front of the house was welcoming and polite. Restaurant meals were great. Bedrooms well appointed. It was good to be able to open a window for fresh air. The bed was a bit hard and a safe would have...

We stayed for 5 nights on this trip. Have been to Wellington many times and would probably rate the James Cook as top of our accommodation list for similar pricing. Friendly staff and excellent service. Convenient location with easy access to central city and with car to the suburbs or to Hutt Valley (and convenience of prompt valet parking). Only...

Hotel is very centrally located, spacious rooms and a selection of 2 different restaurant / bars on-site. There is a Countdown metro a few doors down from Hotel’s Lambton Quay exit, which is super handy if you feel like getting some refreshments and snacks to consume in your room. The room I had, with a king size bed was well...

We stayed 4 nights for holiday. Location is excellent you can walk directly to Lambton Quay. Cable car is 20 meters from the entrance and also about 50 meters there is a supermarket. You may walk to Te Papa, waterfront etc. Rooms are spacious, silent and comfortable. Breakfast is great. Wifi is a little slow but works ok with phones...

The hotel is I a great location. It is however tired Rooms are outdated and in need of maintenance. Windows are dirty so you cannot see out of them. The bed was comfortable and despite negatives it was a good stay.

Booked spa suite for a weekend away. Spent a little more per night than a standard room, but the extra was totally worth it. Spacious, comfortable room - great as the weather wasn't perfect, and after a long day walking around the city was good to chill out in - awesome bathroom facilities (nice complimentary Forest and Bird toiletries as...

Mine was a quick trip with little time in the hotel but the James Cook was as reliable as ever clean, welcoming and quiet. I was away from the property most of the time so didn't get to enjoy a meal. But all my other needs were met to the usual good standard.

Very good altough Wellington is windy and having a room with a window thay leaks wind noise can be annoying. Great location services and amenities. Excellent price-value rslationship. Clean, comfortable, great breakfast.
