We spent two nights with Gilly and Brian and felt totally spoiled from the minute we arrived. This really is a luxurious B&B and worth paying the extra for 5* treatment. We didn't try out the slide next to the stairs in the hall. Maybe next time?!

Spent only one night, unfortunately. The room was large(The Sunset room) and the bathroom was large and well outfitted with modern shower and new flooring. There were homemade cookies left for us, and the owners Gilly and Brian met with the guests at 6:00 for cocktail hour and a chat. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful with a full hot...

Thank you for your review and we are always happy when our guests have a memorable stay. We love to interact and help with sightseeing in the area or just talk about any topical news.We are not far from Taupo centre and run a free shuttle to drop guests off at restaurants in the evening, then they take a taxi...

We loved our stay with Gilly and Brian. The two couldn't have been more welcoming, and they gave us great recommendations for what to do with our time during our stay. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed and Brian's garden is magnificent!

We stayed at The Pillars last year and were SO impressed that is was one of two places we returned to this year and were not disappointed! It is a very special B&B where you can be assured of a very warm welcome from Gilly and Brian. It is very elegant with lots of little extras eg flowers in your...

It was our pleasure to host you both again this year, and good to hear we are still up to standard and that you enjoyed your stay just as much as we constantly try to improve guest experiences. It gives us a real boost to have guests returning, like old friends coming back. Maybe next year we will see you...

Set in the hillsides outside of Taupo town center, this B&B feels like a Mediterranean estate complete with manicured gardens, pool and tennis court. The owners Gilly and Brian have many years of experience in the hospitality business and it shows. Clean, comfortable and just far enough away from town to feel like a retreat, it's a great base for...

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. Brian & i really enjoy hosting guests and sharing our beautiful home with them. Taupo certainly is a great central north island location for exploring some great sights in Rotorua , Napier ,Tongariro national park and even Waitomo caves.

Excellent place to stay, beautiful, restful and very good hosts. I would recommend this B &B to anyone and everyone who wants a tasteful and relaxing place to stay. Close to Taupo but not on the main drag.

the Pillars retreat is a lovely place with a huge garden and a little swimming pool. The rooms are very well equipped and the view on the garden is so pretty. Gilly and Brian make the guests feel very welcome and invite us for a drink to get to know us a little bit.

The Pillars Retreat is not only an luxirious B&B, but the friendly hosts Gilly and Brian make it really a retreat. This is a quiet place a little bit outside of the Taupo tourist area with a great view overlooking the lake.

We stayed at the Pillars over Christmas and had a great, relaxing stay. Gilly and Brian were very gracious hosts and let us use their kitchen to make dinner on Christmas as most of the restaurants in Taupo were closed.
