Great hosts, who even let you take their dog for a walk (Jessie is super well trained and a pleasure to walk with). Great open space kitchen, where lots of people can cook at the same time, many fridges and freezers with tons of space. Double rooms have ensuite bathroom. There is sufficient parking space for your car. Close to... More

The receptionist staff were really nice and helped us with booking a tour. Our private room/en-suite was nice and the shared kitchen area was also clean and welcoming. The location was about a 5 - 10 minute walk to the main shops. Would definitely stay again if we went back.

Even though my friends and I didn't stay for long, 1 night, we were warmly welcomed and the staff took their time for us. The room and kitchen were clean and we felt really comfortable. The staff also helped us organize our trip the day after we stayed there, giving us recommendations even for locations more far away that were... More

Bedding really requires renewing as pillows were yellow same as the duvet and flat as anything! Room it's self is fine for what you pay but small and felt cramped with no where... More

We had a fantastic stay in the double room with private bathroom. Room was a nice size and modern, more similar to a motel than a backpackers. Service and Facilities were fantastic! Free Coffee was so good and free lift to the Intercity bus. Location is walking distance to nature and shops.

After some bigger stole my car. I needed accomodation in Taupo. At short notice and despite being nearly full. Kat's smile and helpful manner made a stressful situation somewhat plesent. Room 3 was a touch of luxury and to have a sauna was bliss. Thanks so much Ross and Kat Regards Mathew Neilson

We really enjoyed staying here. It is the perfect place for backpackers! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the heating was pretty good. When we asked for more blankets, it was no problem. The kitchen facilities were good and there was a common area to chill in, with an array of things to keep you... More

Hi and welcome to Taupo's original and favourite backpackers. Rainbow lodge was purpose built and designed for the needs of travellers by Mark Dumble (fishing expert??) and Sue Mrozinski themselves seasoned travellers. Having had my own character building experiences I came to rest at Rainbow lodge and worked closely with them for a year before they handed me the reigns. Ross ... more   less
