The Regent Hotel has the structure of a motel but it has been retrofitted and redesigned to look like a five start hotel. I was impressed by how big the hotel actually is. Even their small studios were big enough for 2 people. The location was also perfect!

Kia ora, Thanks for your great review. We're delighted you have found us! As you say the hotel started out life as a motel but has been redesigned, added on to and tastefully redecorated. It's great to see you enjoyed the size of your studio and our perfect location! We look forward to seeing you back soon. Warm regards, Christine McDonald, Hotel Manager

A fabulous place to stay for our girls' weekend! The ladies on the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly, both on the phone & when I visited prior to booking to check the place out. We stayed in "the loft" which wasn't advertised, but was shown to me when I visited to enquire, it was just PERFECT for the 5 of us! The loft was spacious, spotlessly clean, sunny, private and warm and cosy. It had three bedrooms (king, split king and triple bunk) two large bathrooms, one with deep freestanding bath and both with huge showers. All rooms had super comfy beds and decent pillows, duvets and extra bedding if needed. It also had a full-sized fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, also a coffee pod machine in addition to plunger coffee and the usual packet supplies, and a well-stocked mini-bar. The private balcony was also a pleasant surprise as I hadn’t noticed it on my visit. Location-wise, you simply can’t do better. A few steps away from Eat Street and the lakefront. Eat Street did make for quite a bit of noise on Friday and Saturday night, but not loud enough to be disturbing. Parking is off-street, secure and free. All the girls commented that it’d be the perfect place to bring their families back. Next time we’d all eat at the restaurant too – the menu looked amazing but unfortunately we’d already booked elsewhere for the two nights we were there.

Highly recommend. We stayed here for 1 night and was impressed with the decor, comfort and cleanliness of the room. Staff were very friendly and professional. Grounds were impeccable and we enjoyed the use of the indoor mineral pool. Love that the restaurant had a plant based menu and we will be back to try it out. 2 min walk to Eat streat. We left an item of clothing and it was not a problem for staff to return. Fabulous place to stay!

The hotel staff were very helpful and the hotel pleasant enough. The hotel has a private thermal pool which is nice. However we got a room with a worn out bed, it was soft and the join down the middle was impossible to sleep on so it was effectively two single beds. Tourist operators should by now under stand the non returning visitors have gone and they are dealing with in country peeps, who will come back for good service when provided. Unfortunately we wouldn’t come back to this establishment due to the bed ware and lack of a lift for older people with heavy bags is a no go zone.
