Great staff, just the rooms are very small and creaky. good location down the road from amazing bakery. stained linen with blood. would recommend bringing sleeping bags to stay clean. cheap and affordable but a bit tacky here and there, still an alright place to stay.

Upon arriving in Rotorua after a long bus ride I came across the disappointing backyard inn. For starters the rooms were dirty. There were white stains on both the carpet and seating along with small red stains on the bedding which I suspect is blood. On top of this the floor creaked. The positives of this is the pricing and... More

The rooms were dirty. My sheets had blood stains in them and the mattress looked damaged and years old. I have to say probably the highlight of the backyard inn would be the really nice marmalade they provided for my toast each morning. The location worked pretty nice for our needs.

I stayed for three days at the Backyard Inn and I found it very average. The beds were broken and the floor was creaky and sounded broken as well this all annoyed other residents at the Inn. The toilets and showers were alright but the structure was very small meaning someone could peek over and look at you while you... More

We booked two nights in a 'Double Room with Garden View' at the Backyard Inn. The branding and marketing of the inn is really modern and that's what I expected when I arrived, but was left disappointed. The room was very small, which was fine as we were only going to be sleeping in it, but the shared bathroom was... More

Me and my family (total of 3) stayed in a triple room for two nights. The accommodation is basic but got everything you need and it's very clean! We had our private bathroom which was great. Staff members are all very friendly and especially, Chenara! Thank you so much for organising our trip. You've been super helpful and very friendly!... More

We stayed at the Backyard Inn twice over the last 2 months. Initially as a couple then with my mother as well. The rooms in the lodge are clean and basic but sufficient and the showers are good as is the swimming pool! On reflection we may have considered booking a chalet for more privacy and private bathroom. The highlight... More

The accomodation is basic but clean. I'd recommend a double room with a private bathroom as it was a bit more private and is suitable for a couple with a child. Was a pity that the bar wasn't open and the BBQ was filthy so we didn't really socialise at the backpackers but it's close to town so we went... More

I've used this place several times over the years, I stayed a couple of years ago when it was KiwiPaka and now its rebranded as the Backyard Inn - to be fair, while the branding changes the camp is effectively the same - its tidy and clean but also showing its age, I stay in the chalets which are excellent... We stayed at the chalet with 4 single beds, we were 2 adults and 2 small children. Lovely room, and nice bathroom. I suggest people to bring your own towels and toiletries, because they provide one towel in the bathroom and one small soap bar, and 2 toilet rolls. If you do bring your own towels and toiletries, you will... More
