As soon as we stepped into Funky Green Voyager the owner was so so lovely. Full of useful information in regards to rotarua and much more. The beds were comfy, if you are staying in a private room like we did it was like your own little house. Absolutely loved it

One of the most welcoming and helpful hostels I have ever stayed in! I stayed here for three nights in the private family unit with my parents and we loved every minute. The rooms were spacious and fairly clean. The owners are fantastic, the kitchen well equipped, beds comfortable and good pressure + hot water in the bathroom. Good laundry... More

It was a very nice place - clean, warm in the main building (nice wood fire), very friendly staff who knew so much about the area, everything gets recycled, there's a book swap shelf, a stereo/radio, a coffee machine ($4 or something). The room was quite cold, we had a twin room and there was no heater, but there were... More

Comfy beds, eco friendly hostel. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Good wifi connection but 500mb limit. Not great access to showers and facilities if staying in the courtyard rooms. Located a bit away from centre of town. Free parking. . .

Stayed here for one night after finishing a Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton Movie Set tour from Auckland. Cosy little hostel with great prices to offer. Funky Green Voyager is environmentally conscious - they have a comprehensive recycling system and a small compost where you can throw leftover food for the local pigs. Showers and toilets are unisex. Many spacious bedrooms,... More

This backpackers is a great find in Rotorua. The staff are the highlight going above and beyond what one might expect to link you in with tours etc and also with their local knowledge. Tours booked through Funky Green get a bit of a discount which is always nice, and the facilities include a full equipped kitchen and washing machines/clothes... More

We had a wonderful stay at Funky Green, we were made to feel part of the family and we would definitely recommend this place. Thanks to Shelby, Nadine and Steph for taking good care of us! We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom, in the main house ("The Don"). + great value for money, particularly for BBH members... More

There was a mix up with our booking but once resolved it was a lovely stay. We booked with hostelworld and didn't understand what the mix up was - we were given the rooms we had booked in the end. Great rooms and comfortable beds, very clean and well equipped kitchen and lovely garden to relax in. Plenty of other... More
