I've been here for my honey moon, this place has the best staff I've ever seen, it's managed by the owner (Wayne) and hi sweet wife, they were more than welcoming and friendly. I felt at home. Location and views were fascinating, luxury rooms and outdoor terrace was just breathtaking. And at last, the foood!!! This was by far one... More

The weather throughout our stay was absolutely filthy but it couldn't have mattered less as we hunkered down in the comfort and warmth of Solitaire Lodge. We loved watching the clouds fly, seeing the rain lash and listening to the sound of the wind while watching the flames of the log fire in the drawing room. The bedroom was huge... More

Yes it will cost you a pretty penny... However everything was outstanding. The view was absolutely spectacular and it was the highlight of my honeymoon. Not only are you on a beautiful large lake...you are with unique flora, fauna, animals, and Mount Tarawera (volcano). We stayed in a Tarawera suite-I would recommend highly because you get probably the best view... More

Our second visit and happily we stayed two nights this time (our first visit we only stayed one night - not enough!). As beautiful, comfortable and elegant as we remembered and the food still very good. We enjoyed a stroll along the lakeside, relaxed in our room and on our own terrace and wallowed in the bath with a view!... More

Solitaire defines the perfect couples get away. It is nestled on a peninsula extending out into Lake Tarawera. If the weather is good you awake to breathtaking views of the volcano. I slept wonderfully in the inky silence and in the morning the breakfast was filling and delicious. The lodging is one price for all meals and drink and the... More

We gathered to celebrate a friends birthday and were treated to a luxurious experience from the moment we stepped out of our cars. The food was delicious and a feast for the yes as well as the stomach. Wines were exquisitely matched to each course. Solitaire Lodge a peninsula in paradise. It has to be experienced to be believed

Everything about Solitaire is wonderful. The setting is unsurpassed with incredible views. The decor is understated and elegant. The food was fresh, local and featured many subtle flavours. Our suite was supremely comfortable helped by the air conditioning in the heat of summer - one key reason for our decision to stay here.

Using our GPS system we found Solitaire Lodge quite easily located just outside Rotorua. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner, Wayne, and shown to our room (#6). When we walked into the room we wanted to stay forever. There were floor to ceiling windows looking out to a beautiful inlet with small boats floating on the water... More

Thank you to Wayne, Ingrid and the team for an amazing time! The location and views are amazing, but the team really made it special. A truly personal tailored service. Both of the chefs were exceptional during dinner and breakfast, working in their open kitchen. Excellent!

We were hosted in the Solitaire Lodge by Nick and Pip, and couldn't be happier about it. They manage a really cozy lodge, we came for a short visit but they surely made it remarkable. We had just one full day to know Rotorua and they made sure you could take the most out of it! Mike was the one... More
