This is a lovely hostel in the centre of Rotorua, close to the main attractions and walking distance to the supermarket. Rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a well equipped kitchen and nice lounge area. The hot pool is also nice to relax in.

We did a family trip to Rotorua from Auckland and stayed 3 nights. The family room was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions. Guests were mostly students and backpackers and we enjoyed our stay here. It is located very conveniently in the midst of things to do. Would love to go back there.

The owners were knowledgable and helpful! I spent all afternoon wandering around Rotorua for free thanks to a great map of the town I received on arrival. The facilities were nice, large kitchen, bbq/patio area. I loved that there were no bunkbeds and i had a very comfortable sleep. Unfortunately i found the guests to be unfriendly but overall it...

We stayed at the hostel for a couple of nights in a private room wish shared bathroom/toilets. Our room was spacious and clean and we got towels for $1 from reception. The hostel has large common areas (kitchen, living room) and even a small hot water pool. The shared facilities were well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful...

Comfortable bed, quiet room, free parking and right in town. Other places don't provide that combination readily. Some bathrooms have baths not showers, but showers still readily available. Quite clean, but kitchen Windows and fridges could do with cleaning. Owners helpful, but it appears cleaning staff are probably backpacking residents, so that's probably the reason some lack of service or...

Stayed here for two nights, facilities are fine. Everything you need for a backpacker. But the hostel is full of screaming kids. Think there's a few families living there and it feels like your sharing a house with them, not my cup of tea. No one talks to each other, wouldn't call it a hostel.

We stayed here over NYE and thought it was comfy for a few days! The hostel felt very homely and the owners were really nice and helpful! However, you almost felt like you weren't welcome by a few of the housekeeping staff and it felt it a bit 'clicky.' However we would stay again for sure and like others have...

This hostel is very house like and very cozy if a word comes to mind, it's clearly been converted at some point. That being said It is a good place to stay, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The people here are not talkers maybe it's just the holiday working staff but yeesh, like blood from a stone. but...

Stayed 3 nights at the Central Backpackers. Staff was really helpful and on arrival they showed us a map with things we could do in town for free. Room was very spacious and clean. Shared bathrooms also clean. A real plus was the heated spa pool. Really nice to relax with a beer after a long day walking. Kitchen area...

clean and tidy and cozy accommodation. but would be better to have shower than just the bath tub. also the tap might be best to be replaced with the new one so that the cold and hot water can be opened through just one tap. despite that, everything was perfect and very homey feel.
