After a long journey from Australia, we arrived at Marlin House to the warmest of welcomes from Helen and Ray ! Nothing was too much trouble, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Helen and Ray were wonderful hosts, helpful but not gushy and respectful of our tiredness and suggested gentle activities for the first day or so. After 3 days...

We booked a four-bedroom apartment on the second floor. Ray and Helen are fantastic hosts who are friendly, helpful and attentive, making sure we enjoy our stay. The kitchen was well facilitated. The sea view was great. Overall the apartment was quite worn out with parts of the property refurbished. One window in the living room was broken and the...

We came here for the Russian's birthday. It was towards the end of winter and during the week so Paihia was fairly quiet plus the weather was somewhat wet. We had the place pretty much to ourselves. On the plus side the owners representative/host/family member was super attentive and very friendly. She really looked after us. The complimentary breakfeast was ample...

This place is situated up a quiet street but it is easy walking distance to the shops/restaurants. The hosts are lovely and helped us up the stairs with our luggage when we arrived which was much appreciated. Breakfast was wonderful and the view is stunning, we had an early tour and it was no trouble for them to do our...

Ray and Helen were great hosts and we felt that our stay was a home from home experience. The accommodation was excellent, roomy and with great views across the bay .Our continental breakfasts were very healthy, made from local produce with plenty of choice and delicious. They suggested lots of places to visit and couldn't do enough for us. We...

Quiet location off the main street, but up a small hill. Many major sites within easy walking distance from harbor and restaurants. Our room had a spa and was on the third floor with a view of the harbor and there was always a breeze. Had air conditioning also. Hosts were very welcoming and gave very good advice on restaurants....

AFter some iffy hotel experiences in New Zealand, our welcome here from Ray and Helen couldn't have been better. Both are experienced hoteliers and know how to treat guests unobtrusively but caringly. THe property is set back from the front and overlooking the harbour and bay.. Breakfast of cereals and fresh fruits etc is taken on a terrace with other...

We stayed with a few family members in their self-contained unit - and it was just amazing! It's almost a whole floor of the building, including a huge deck with BBQ, 10 beds, and generally a very spacious layout. The best part of the building are the views from the deck, it's just amazing! :) The location is also very...

This is the best combination of room and view we have stayed in in New Zealand. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. Excellent breakfast service. Great location. On a hill so not for the unfit but not too strenuous. Paihia has plenty of amenities. Good touring base for north of North Island
