We overnighted at the Shoreline, having researched it on TripAdviser. Its located on the road facing the ocean across a parkland area that was under renovation. But we were only passing through, having a quick look at Napier as we hadn't been there before.
This is a beautiful motel right across from the beach and each room has a balcony whuch is very private

We stayed here in February, it's the 3rd time we've been back and it is still fantastic as a quality place to stay for a weekend. We've leant that the best rooms are on the top floor, they're quieter as they're away from road noise...More
Well located for the town centre (a short walk). Spacious accommodation. Only issue is parking is limited, although plenty available on the road. Walk across the road and you are on the Ocean edge, with wonderful views across the Pacific. Napier is a lovely town...More

Hi. not sure re bikes, but there is a bike hire shop a few hundred metres up the road. It's on marine parade, but I am unsure of its name.
Supermarkets, pak n save is the closest and less than 10 min walk.
