Breckenridge Lodge is a superb lodge outside Napier, in a beautiful setting on the hillside overlooking the vineyards and distant Napier Hills. Ellie & Malcolm are great hosts, very warm and welcoming, and as chef, Malcolm doesn't disappoint either - the standard of food is excellent! When we arrived we were too tired to contemplate the 5 course tasting menu,...

We were looking for somewhere special for out 25th wedding anniversary and choose the Breckenridge - a choice which proved to be inspired. Only five rooms but this allows the hosts to deliver a very personal experience for guests. Rooms look out over vineyards and there are extensive gardens. However the food was absolutely stunning with Malcolm going through each...

Hubby and I were here for 3 nights on our 6 week retirement tour of New Zealand. We were relaxed from the moment we arrived. The beautiful house and grounds, located in a bucolic rural setting outside of Napier, were designed by Malcolm. Ellie and Malcolm pretty much take care of everything for you from the moment you arrive. They...

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here as Malcolm and Ellie are fabulous hosts. Dined in the Lodge each evening and loved the fact that all the guests are invited for pre dinner drinks. We all dined together at a large communal table which makes for a convivial atmosphere. Malcolm prepares exceptional meals, accompanied by local wines and served beautifully...

Luxurious accommodation in a glorious setting overlooking the vineyard, with a beautiful garden repleat with bright blue Agapanthus. Malcolm and Ellie are wonderful hosts. Once again, a Lodge with a difference. And again, all due to the hosts. Peaceful idyllic situation. The rural landscape was so breathtaking! Both our hosts were discreet, helpful and fun to be with. And, if any one wonders if dining at the lodge is worth it, well, take our word for it: it IS !!! May be a little...

Malcom is an exceptional chef, preparing immaculate and inventive meals for the residents of just five rooms. The dining room looks out over a picture book view of vineyards and hills. Rooms are stylish and service is excellent. The view from the room with a balcony is very special.

Fantastic stay here. I probably had one of life's best dining experiences here. Malcolm is so talented and together with his lovely Elli-they provide sheer happiness. Having tried several Michelin awarded restaurants in my life I must say they deserve 2. New Zeeland delivers. TOP NOTCH!
