We stayed in an upstairs 2-bedroom unit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this motel. We only have 2 suggested improvements. First, the double bed was too soft and we didn't get a good night's sleep. Second, the floor squeaks, which was a little annoying. Apart from that, the motel us great. Our kids enjoyed the facilities: pool and slide,...

A very nice last minute stay for five of us. A cute and clean suite with a great king bed in one room as well as king twins in another. The lounge was comfortable with a couch and chairs plus a dinette set. It also had a king twin in there. The kitchen was small but efficient. This is a...

New Zealand motels are a fine institution - clean, well-equipped, convenient and with friendly helpful staff at a good price. This was a good example. Couldn't have asked for more. If you had to find fault this one was a little further from the centre and we needed to concentrate to find our way back from the attractive art-deco sea...

We stayed here for 2 nights with 4 kids (one in a wheelchair). Loved that we were all in the same apartment and that the rooms were big. Rooms are very clean and modern. After a day visiting sites kids had a great time in the heated pool and spa and made new friends in the games room. Kids also...

A mix up in the room we pre booked, but sorted out very quickly. The upstairs units have very steep access and the floors squeak so it must be annoying for the downstairs occupiers. All the amenities are great for families with a well kept pool.

I spend 3 days every 2weeks in motels around NZ and AUS, colonial in taradale was a new visit. The motel was quiet, well arranged with upto date rooms and clean units with friendly management. I hav opened an account for myself and staff and will return for visits to the bay.

I can't speak highly enough of this place. The owner/manager and the head service lady were just so accommodating and helpful, I can't speak highly enough of them. Wonderfully kept grounds/gardens with lovely quality garden furniture. We were a group of 20+ over 8 or 9 rooms. We stayed in the lower unit 14 which had a full kitchen with...

First of all, Napier was a highlight of our trip. The whole family loved it. The Colonial had a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and great stuff for the kids. The service at the desk was way beyond what they needed to do. Helpful is not a strong enough word. They planned our stay with us, which really improved our...

We stayed here for a night as part of a cycle trail - accommodation was booked via the cycle tour operator. Great spot, lovely indoor/outdoor area so could sit out and and enjoy a drink in the sun. Kids amazingly well catered for with pool, spa and games room. Friendly owners who have great advice on what to do for...
