We spent two nights in Hamilton, the second at the Microtel, and really enjoyed our stay here compared to the first place. It was perfectly located in the CBD near a Pak n Save and other amenities. The room we had was newly renovated and very nice. Comfortable beds, clean sheets, and a decent selection of workable items in the... More

Great prices, friendly people to chat to.. Excellent kitchen area and bedroom was quite nice. Lady at check in was a breeze to deal with :). Will definitely be back here another time next year. Close to CBD and grocery shopping.. Free parking is also available

I spent there 2 nights and forgot my drybag with a fleece in it there. The owner couldn't find the it and didn't seem to care at all that I had just lost items worth 140NZD and that there are thiefs there. No apologies or refunds or nothing. Cant recommend at all.

We stayed in a single ensuite room on the ground floor. The room seemed nice when we first walked in, but over the course of the first day, we noticed that the room wasn't well ventilated and just seemed slightly damp overall. We also noticed black mildew in the corner of the room. That being said, it was also a... More

Very inexpensive place. We booked a double room with ensuite and it was very good value for money. I have stayed in many YHA the last months and this is probably one of my favorites. The room and toilet was really clean. The bed was maybe a bit small but it was comfortable anyway. Unlimited Hot shower with good pressure.... More

Plus side guy on check.in friendly etc. All ok. CBD 5mins walk. BUT we have the private room number 1, which has the stairs to the left of it, so constantly sounds like a heard of elephants charging up and down, now maybe some dnt care. BUT if you wish to sell these private motel type.rooms then walls this thin... More

Very inexpensive, fairly clean, great location. And the staff was really friendly. I paid a little more for a private room that shared a shower and toilet with another room. The room was spartan. Had a small TV but very spartan. Hooks were screws in the wall. The no longer used soap dispenser in the shower was disgusting. Still, the... More

I've stayed at this YHA several separate occasions in the past few months. I have sampled both the dorm and private accommodation, and have found both to be clean, comfortable, and restful. I have experienced many backpacker facilities in my time, and this one is one of my favourites. The kitchen facilities are small, but clean and well-equipped. The pantry... More

Booked double room for a one night stay. The awful smell of the room hit us first and it felt and looked unclean. Not enough room on floor for bags, bathroom flooded when showering because curtain didnt go whole way around. Dirty plates and cutlery were left around the outside of establishment. Location not too bad, easy walk to shops... More

Cleanliness is not a priority here! If this was our first YHA stay in New Zealand, we never would have stayed here (even though it was prepaid) because we would have had enough cash to stay elsewhere but since we were almost done with our 7 week traveling, we did not have the cash to stay elsewhere :-( Staying at...
