After staying for three nights and reading the reviews, I have only one extremely serious complaint: Donald has sold up and is moving from his fabulous creation north. We are gutted. A wonderful few days sampling the best that Auckland has to offer which starts and ends with Sunderland House. Reading and having a beer on the verandah before dinner...

This is our first trip to New Zealand and we're so happy we chose Sunderland House for our stay. Donald and Kathy were the perfect host and hostess. Our room was beautiful, our breakfast scrumptious, and we were helped with great advice and much kindness.

Sunderland House is just as fantastic as ever. We stayed here for a second time (first time was about 4 years ago), and it was just as lovely as our previous visit. We stayed in the pink room (or "premier suite") this time, the largest of the rooms - beautifully decorated and with a small balcony, port and chocolates waiting...

Quite simply - this is the only place you'll want to stay when you visit this beautiful city. The location is perfect as are the rooms (I managed to see them all!), the service is incredible, the hosts are delightfully charming and the breakfasts are better than any hotel I've ever stayed at. Cross your fingers it isn't fully booked!

We stayed 2 separate nights during a week on the north island, in the Green and Red rooms. Really loved this place. The hosts were super friendly - very interested in what we were doing and how we were enjoying enjoying our time in the country. They also had some great suggestions on the area (restaurants, etc) and some places...

My husband and I loved our stay here and totally recommend anyone to stay here. The house is exquisitely decorated, cozy and in a really nice location. The couple couldn't be nicer and so very helpful. The breakfast was amazing. We only wish we'd stayed longer!

Wonderfully appointed B&B with high quality furnishings and tasteful decor. The hosts Donald and Kathy do a great job making their guests feel welcome and providing information on the various Auckland attractions and restaurants. Donald also provided valuable information in advance on of our trip with advice on transport from the airport and hire car company recommendations. The breakfast was...

Honeymooner's from exotic lands like India always make what we do more than worth while and a pleasure to enjoy the cultural exchanges. Your little gift of an elephant god (Ganesh) sits proudly on our kitchen counter, making us smile, reminding us how lucky we are. Thank you for staying and thank you for the review we trust the rest...

We stayed on 26th February for one night only. This attractive and beautifully appointed house is perfectly located for dining at Andiamo in Jervois Road (very good). Our room was quiet, spotless and comfortable. Donald's breakfast was a tour de force and Cathy was delightful. I love the interesting books and artwork - and the vegetable/flower courtyard garden.

Meant to do this for some time (sorry!) but had to sing the praises of Sunderland House one more time after our return visit. Quite simply I wouldn't bother staying anywhere else in Auckland! Comfortable and welcoming, close to great restaurants and an enjoyable easy walk to the centre of town. Thanks again for having us, and for posting back...

It is always terrific to welcome back past guests, to hear their kiwi tales and know that they feel Sunderland House is like coming home to all the comforts. The claw foot bath is magical, luxurious and worth the time relaxing in so thank you for that travelers tip. Cheers Donald & KAthy
