Stayed at QSB while backpacking around New Zealand.
It was ok, it wasn’t the best hostel we stayed in but probably wasn’t the worst.
The hotel offers a free breakfast for those looking to save a few pennies.

Decent sized rooms, comfortable beds. Showers and toilets, hot and clean. Hostel is in a great location as is right next to the Oakley's shop which is where the kiwi picks up so ideal. Would defiantly stay again.
Nice and friendly people. Free Wi-Fi all over the place. Places to plug-in your informatic devices. Not far from the two main streets of the city center. Quite clean place and breakfast for free each morning!

As Manon mentioned there is a free day storage for backpackers which is used generally for people checking out and wanting to leave their belongings for the day, or checking in and waiting to go into the rooms at 2pm. You can also leave valuables behind reception in safe which is manned 24 hours per day. In the rooms themselves, the premium dorm rooms have lockers in them, you would need to have your own padlock for them though.
