Friendly staff, checked in at around 11 pm. They already did the cashup so i didn't need to pay, and also they didn't want my passport as guarantee. So it already felt an laidback place :) Also received a free upgrade to a private dorm, i think i initially booked a 4 or 6 share so that was cool. :D... More

Hostel was very basic. Stayed in a 6 person room, plenty of plugs but it was quite loud in the street and the windows didn't seem to prevent that. That said, it is right in the centre of town, just off Queen Street which is a huge plus. It is at the top of a very steep hill but that's... More

YHA Queenstown was good. be like YHA Queenstown YHA Auckland :/. Jokes apart, a really basic place. You've got to make a massive climb up the city road from Queens street to reach the place. After a long day of backpacking and touring in the summer, getting back to the room isn't a comforting thought as rooms can get quite... More

I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm, no bunk beds (yay!) the room was pretty spacious and had a desk. Only two plug sockets though so had to take it in turns charging our things. The hostel is located up a steep hill which is great for the exercise just not with a suitcase! It's situated at the top... More

Stayed in this place for a oouple nights in 2 bed room. Overall the place feels tight or packed except in the kitchen area, which is very spacious, and has all you need if you are cooking on your own. It was shared bathroom on my floor, with only one toilet and 2 showers and I had to wait or... More

The hostel served its purpose as a place to sleep and store our stuff, but it's not worth staying here just because you have to do what is effectively the Tongariro Crossing to get to the hostel; the massive, steep uphill from the CBD is heart attack-inducing at the end of a long day. Note that there is also no... More

I stayed in this hostel for 4 days..location is central and near to wharf and shopping centers. you have to climb a steep hill to reach the location. Staff was good and helpful. Kitchen was very big and has all required utensils. Rooms were clean and bit cozy. There were 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets on each floor and locks... More

Stayed at the YHA hostel for 4 nights and was very pleased at the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Although the room was basic it was fine for our needs. The shared bathrooms and kitchen area were well maintained, organised and most importantly clean! Numerous stoves, fridges and food storage areas to keep your things. You also get 1GB... More

Pros: Helpful staff, clean room Cons: Outdated room and building. The room felt like i'm in some institution or old orphanage. It's like there's no effort to redecorate or refurbish the room and the building. Been to many YHAs in NZ and this one is the only one that dissapoint me. Why not torn it down and keep the Auckland... More
