Pullman Auckland Hotel & Apartments is lauded for its superb location, nestled close to parks, the CBD, and the waterfront, despite the challenging hill nearby. Guests have called out the extensive amenities, including a well-appointed gym and luxurious pool, although room for service improvement has been noted. The rooms' spaciousness and comfort stand out, yet there is room to enhance soundproofing and lighting.
While the service is generally commended for being amiable and professional, some guests have encountered inconsistencies. The hotel's atmosphere receives mixed reviews, balancing modern comforts with some dated elements. Cleanliness is a strong point, with the hotel maintaining high standards throughout.

Detailed Reviews
Our party of 10 stayed 4 nights at Pullman Auckland. The location is great, next to Uni of Auckland & Albert Park and within easy walking distance to the CBD, wharf and Giapo (about 10 to 15 minutes walk). Although be warned the hotel is on top of a slope so some people may struggle a little when walking up to the hotel from the cbd. Also as we had a rental car it is very near the motorway about a couple of minutes drive away. The hotel facilities were great with a lap pool, spa and gym. We had breakfast daily with good variety of cereals, cold meats, variety of cheeses, fresh fruits including kiwi fruit, hot food (bacon, eggs, baked beans, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes etc). The individually cooked egg omelette and egg benedict was especially good. We also had dinner at the restaurant. The food was tasty with attentive service, although the portions could be more substantial. Recommend the lamb and steak. Our 2 twin beds rooms were pretty big and the hotel provide complimentary slippers, nespresso machines/capsules, and 1l water per day which were helpful. The staff was also very friendly. Also the beds and pillows were especially good. We all had very good nights sleep. The only very minor issue is that the room is a bit dark, with a black colour theme, it can do with more lighting for people with eye sight issue but this is not a deal breaker. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Auckland.

Hotel's Favourite
The Pullman Hotel has become my "go to" when I'm having a short break in Auckland.
It's in a nice quiet location overlooking Albert Park. Ten-minute walk to Aucklands Ferry Terminal, Art Gallery, Train station. Fifteen-minute walk to the casino.
I was welcomed as a friendly acquaintance returning to the hotel. A room upgrade was a much-appreciated recognition that returning guests are valued.
The room was spotless & quiet. All the staff treat you with courtesy & respect. Everything I want.

My husband and I were very pleased that the location of the Pullman is not along the busy streets of Auckland's city centre and enjoyed our relaxing time together. We had an easy (online) check-in and check-out through their app (AccorPlus). We also got rewarded with points (or a $10 drink voucher) if you opt not to have your room cleaned (only stayed for 2 nights). Thank you to all the friendly staff.

Nice enough hotel let down by its nickel and dining attitude. Giant sign in the fitness and pool area sternly telling off guests who dare ask for more than one towel - and charging $5 for towels! Extremely unwelcoming and just leaves a sour taste in the mouth. This is a top end brand supposed five star hotel charging five star prices, but has decided it is all high and mighty able to lecture guests how they must save the environment and how they are not allowed one towel for the pool/sauna and one for a shower afterwards. The same sign also sternly warns against guests even daring to ask for things like toothbrushes or a plastic bag for wet swimwear, again insinuating that any guest who dares ask for these items are one short step from burning down a forest. A hotel of this calibre should be in the business of accommodating reasonable guest requests not sign shouting them down.
Highly recommend people steer clear of this hotel whose management clearly has high disdain for the guests who pay their salaries (a shame as for the most part the staff are quite pleasant but clearly and apologetically bound by their management’s policies) - book at the Cordis or Park Hyatt instead who actually understand the business of hospitality.

I booked this hotel in early March. I wrote down specific requests in the reservation - high floor, bathtub, sharps container, and mattress pad. We paid for Wednesday , to be sure we could get into the apartment early on Thursday when our flight arrived from the states. We were given an apartment on the 7th floor out of 17 floors, no bathtub, no sharps container, and no mattress pad. Why ask for special requests, if the hotel doesn’t seem to read them? I had specifically emailed the hotel about the bathtub request, and it had been acknowledged by the hotel. When we arrived, we were told that if we just waited a couple of hours, we could move from the apartment with only a shower, to one with a bathtub. We were asked to stay in the apartment with a shower until the one with a bathtub was ready. We arrived at 8:00 am, and finally gave up at 2:00 pm, when the reservation agent told us she still had no room number, and no real idea when the room with a bathtub would actually be ready. To be fair, the manager on duty called us after we spoke with the reservation agent, and comped us a free breakfast. The apartment itself is very nice, but we will rethink staying at this hotel again.

Overall had a good stay. Stayed in one of the one bedroom apartments which was very spacious with all the amenities you would expect. Seemed to be clean and had an enormous balcony with a superb view. Breakfast was ok with a variety of foods, the bacon was almost raw but the manager that I fed back to dismissed this feedback - it was extremely busy so that may be why. The front desk staff were very friendly and we were over the moon we could check in early in the morning as the apartment was ready. The only main negative was the air conditioning which seemed to be non existent but instead a fan system ie low, medium or high - no temperature gauge. Had to keep the balcony doors open all night to cool it down which fortunately there was little outside noise due to its location.

We arrived at 2pm for check in only to be told our room was not ready. It was cold and wet outside, and after having already gone for a walk with 2 kids it was frustrating to not be able to go to our room at the expected time. The staff were somewhat helpful offering 4 free drink cards, however when I suggested a small room service voucher they refused. They also failed to bring our bags up to our room by the time we finally did get into it. The pizza we ordered for our kids was $17 and tiny, and when at the bar I received a 3/4 full glass of prosecco with the bottle being finished and the waiter obviously being too stingy to open another one.
The hotel overall has been really nice, including the pool spa and breakfast. I am surprised that they didn't make more of an effort to resolve my issue and I wouldn't have left this review.

Warm, friendly greeting & I was recognized by the staff member at check in. How good is that.
I come to the Pullman at New Years for nice quiet weekend away from my neighbour's who celebrate New Years. The Pullmans location, my rooms double glazing & elevation from street level helps me achieve my aim of a quiet break.
My room had a harbour view & was spotless. Excellent.
The buffet breakfast sets you up for the day. Had lamb entree as main & cheesecake dine in at the restaurant one evening. Very nice.
Overall, a nice, pleasant stay as I've come to expect.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary . So I want to do a very balanced review of the hotel
Firstly the staff are really friendly and welcoming and I would like to give a shoutout to the female manager named Chris I can’t remember her full name but want to say thank you to her for the lovely bottle of rose you put in our room along with the lovely nibbles and also to Andre on reception for trying to get an upgrade for us
Breakfast was really good with good choices ;
Unfortunately the room we had was a deluxe junior suite was not deluxe the bathroom was so small and only had a shower over the bath and so dated its not funny they have tried to do up the room but haven’t done anything with the bathroom or couch as it’s so low I could hardly get out of it and the room was very small compared to other hotel junior suites we have stayed in A 3.5 STAR at best

The Pullman Auckland has its strengths, but there are notable drawbacks that potential guests should consider.
Location: While centrally situated, the hotel is perched on a steep hill. Exploring the city on foot means you'll have to tackle this climb each time you return—challenging for those with mobility issues, strollers, or heavy luggage.
Rooms and Bathrooms: The overall standard is decent mid-range, but the bathrooms are outdated to the point where they never feel fully clean, despite being well-maintained. A renovation is overdue.
Breakfast Experience: The breakfast service was the most disappointing aspect of the stay. For example there were no cheese slices available, which felt odd for a hotel breakfast. Items often ran out by 9 am and were not replenished. The overall selection seemed unusual, with a lack of fresh, high-quality options. The coffee was undrinkable, and there were no proper bread rolls. Seating was insufficient, forcing some guests to eat in the hallway amidst an uncomfortably noisy atmosphere. The hardworking and friendly staff did their best, but there simply weren’t enough of them to handle the crowd. As someone who loves hotel breakfasts, this experience was a letdown.
General Vibe: The hotel caters largely to families with young children and tourists heading out on cruises. It’s not 5-star standard as advertised but rather solidly mid-tier.
Recommendation: For a more enjoyable stay in Auckland, consider the Movenpick or Intercontinental. Both have better locations and are likely to provide a higher standard of service.
