This hotel ticks all the boxes, it’s service is first class, quiet, rooms are spotless parking is good and easily accessible to the city and the restaurants in Parnell.
If I was being super critical I was disappointed in the bar. Difficult to find and service gained by pressing a bell! No draft beer. It is a great pity as there are some wonderful photos on the wall and it looks very comfortable.

Location is in quite a desirable location, only a short drive to Auckland CBD. Hotel though was quite disappointing. Rooms are old, tired and the temperature is not consistent. Room service menu is quite expensive so ended up ordering uber eats. Won't be back.

Dear Melb1710, Thank you for staying with us recently. We have been investing significantly back into the property with 25 of our rooms with renovated bathrooms with a further 16 to be worked on in the next few months before we work on further room types. Without knowing the details of the stay it is harder to comment on your specific room you stayed in and for us to pass it along to maintenance to further investigate. Our room menu is quite competitive in the Parnell dining market and great option whether a guest wants a meal in their room or if they want to relax in our outdoor dining area. If you would like to get in touch with us direct to better share your comments we would welcome that. We wish you the very best but hope you would giving us another go in the future. Yours sincerely, Wayne Darbyshire General Manager

Should be good place to stay , central to city. Rooms clean but bathroom is dated and shower over bath. Heat pump efficient .Staff are pleasant and helpful. Wifi as problematic, only allowed one device to log in at a time ? Beds are comfortable. BUT We met other family for dinner in restaurant. Don’t do it. Waited an hour for first course of seafood chowder and breads. Then served tough , poor quality steak not cooked to order, chicken Kiev that was so stringy and dry it couldn’t be eaten and vege burger swimming in grease. Not impressed in general. Then went to use toilets in restaurant, they were gross to say the least and had been that way for some time . I knew this because the faeces was dried and stuck to floor, paper strewn all over and basins were covered in paper and water. Revolting in the middle of dinner. This hotel would be a reasonable place to stay but we won’t be back , if they can leave toilets in that state and serve food of that standard, we will not spend our money there.

Dear Leannel, thank you for staying with us recently. I wanted to apologise for failing to meet your expectations, our staff work incredibly hard across all areas of our Hotel to deliver for guests and we take feedback from guests very seriously. I wanted to let you know that we have renovated 25 bathrooms to date which are an improvement over existing facilities, these are of our King Balcony and King Standard room types. Continuation of this work was planned through winter, however the impact of COVID-19 has meant that work will now be at a later stage. The guest Wi-Fi does allow multiple devices in the same space to connect at the same time, there is possibly some weakness in coverage and would need to be further investigated by our Maintenance Manager. Our Housekeeping staff work hard across all areas of our Hotel to keep guest rooms and public facilities clean and we implemented additional practices during COVID that these are more regularly monitored and attended to and that is our expectation continuing forward that this remains in place. We have spoken with our Housekeeping Manager around those checks regardless the time of day. We serve a variety of hearty meals to cater to the guests and receive many complimentary words on those. Your comments were raised with our Head Chef to ensure quality of ingredients being used is to the standard expected and to follow up with suppliers, we also want to ensure there is no mis-communication between front of house and the kitchen when it comes to orders. We wish you all the best on future travels around New Zealand. Yours sincerely, Wayne Darbyshire General Manager

My visit to the Quality Hotel was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience the staff were friendly and the service was quick. Being in a wheelchair it's not easy to find accommodation that is suitable. Room service was quickly delivered and the food was still hot when we got it.

I will be advertising your hotel as a place to stay in Auckland. The prices were very reasonable so for a person on national super it was affordable and clean and services were very good.

We booked quite early & were lucky to be able to get 2 rooms as there was a big concert on the weekend we were there. We had 2 rooms on the ground floor each with 2 Queen size beds. The bathroom was very small & shower was over the bath, The rooms are currently being updated starting at the higher floors. The room itself was very comfotrable with a small kitchenette & full size fridge.
We ate in the Hotel Restaurant both nights we were there & found the food & waiter very good.

We had a great few days here, huge room on the top floor, great bed and excellent views to the harbour and the city skyline with some really nice sunsets (very nice after weeks of smoke haze here in Sydney). Very friendly, helpful staff as well. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main street of Parnell so easy to get food and its close to te Domain which is a great way of walking into the city centre. Will definitely be back there

This is my second stay at the Parnell and it consistently provides me everything I need. The parking is free and plentiful and the staff are efficient and nice.

While the bathrooms are dated (shower over the bath is never my preference) the bed is big and comfortable. Each room has a heat pump and opening windows.

When they do renovate it would be great if they could consider plug placement - all are ground level and not really conveniently placed if you want to work at the desk.

The view however is spectacular.

The restaurant offered a pick up service which actually was fine - you placed your order then they called you back when it was ready. I ordered breakfast 2 days and steak dinner one night and I had them all very quick. The menus are on the website and very reasonably priced.

Dear Juliette, thank you for staying with us recently and taking the opportunity to leave a review. We are glad to hear you made use of free parking on site and enjoyed the views from your room. To date we've renovated 25 bathrooms removing the shower over baths with walk-in showers along with transforming the rest of the space. Ask for our King Standard or King Balcony rooms on a future stay as we've renovated over half in each of those room types. We had planned to finish off those room types and move onto others through Winter, however the impact of COVID-19 on our industry has meant that work would have to be look at a later stage. It is now more than ever that we are encouraging guests to book direct to support our industry as the cost of commissions to offshore booking companies can be great. We appreciate your feedback regarding plugs, I have talked with our Maintenance Manager and we will look at a docking station or the like which can make those ground level plugs more accessible and so you can utlise multiple plugs at once. Future renovations of the living spaces could incorporate plugs into the deck for example since we know guests like to use them to work from. We hope to welcome you back again on a future stay in Auckland. Wayne Darbyshire General Manager

Thank you for your enquiry. We do not have a pool on-site at the hotel. The closest pool is the Parnell Baths, located at 25 Judges Bay Road, Parnell, which is a salt water pool, approximately 8 minutes’ walk. The Olympic Pool and Fitness Centre is located at 77 Broadway, Newmarket, which is the next suburb to Parnell, approximately a 20 minute walk away.

Hi there Andrew, In terms of the most affordable way (and can be one of the fastest ways avoiding rush hour traffic) is catching Airport 380 bus to Papatoetoe and catching a train into Newmarket this costs just $3.30 with an AT HOP card otherwise cash would be $9, the AT HOP card can be purchased at the iSite centre in the International Terminal if you are intending to be in Auckland sometime travelling around the city. From newmarket you can catch a Inner/Outerlink bus from Newmarket into Parnell getting off opposite the Cathedral, then its a short 5 minute walk down St Stephens Ave onto Gladstone road. I hope that helps. Please get in touch directly if you have any other questions.
