Nestled in a prime location, Hilton Auckland is often celebrated for its accessibility to ferries, shops, and eateries, though the bustling area can sometimes lead to noise concerns. The harbor views from the rooms are a highlight for guests, but opinions on the rooms are divided, with some criticism directed at their cleanliness and outdated aspects.
While the atmosphere is generally regarded as stylish and comfortable, the hotel's value is questioned due to extra charges and inconsistent service. Reviews also reflect mixed experiences with the hotel's cleanliness and staff attentiveness.

Detailed Reviews
I was so glad we chose this hotel to stay at after reading some negative reviews, along with many reviews of other hotels in the area. Our experience from the moment we walked into the hotel until we left was excellent all around. All staff members were very welcoming and professional, the hotel is in a perfect location on the wharf, the breakfast buffet at the restaurant was great and our room was excellent! We stayed in a premium deluxe harbour view room and had an excellent view of the water, the bed was super comfortable and I loved the bathroom (with a bath that fit my body perfectly) - it seemed as if it had been recently renovated. The room was a great size and I liked the lay-out. Our room was on the side facing the building next to us, but we were at the end facing out to the water so it wasn't an issue. I do agree with other reviewers that getting a room on the other side of the building is best, but there was a cruise ship parked right next to that side so I was very happy where we were. I would stay here again in a heart-beat, it was perfect.

We had an amazing time at the Hilton Auckland. Great breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice and great food. We don’t usually like continental breakfasts, but this one is outstanding. The hostess, Katelyn remembered our drink preferences by the third day. We loved the view of the harbor and sunrise coming in the window.

We booked this as our last night in NZ to enjoy harbor views and a more lux room. The lobby area and restaurant on the first floor are beautiful, but the rooms themselves are ok but nothing great (more like three-star type hotel). It was a bit of a let-down compared to our expectations looking at the property photos - balcony had bird poo and some old napkins on it (fine, it could have blown from another room as the balconies aren't very private), room was a bit cramped, and the bathroom felt like it could use an update (large but older set-up and cracks/etc.) The concierge and doorman were very kind and helpful (umbrella when I was taking a walk, offering very good advice about where to find a gas station, etc.) Breakfast was very good (buffet). The location is great if you're doing things at the quay (Maritime Museum, other boat trips, etc.) but does require a little walk to get anywhere else (felt safe and it wasn't far, so overall good location). There weren't cruise ships in while we were there so I don't know how that would impact noise or view. The harbor view was ok but fairly uninspiring (cargo ships and cranes) so I'm not sure I would pay extra for the harbor view. Overall - medium value for money and I'd probably try to stay someplace else the next time we're in Auckland to try something new.

Just completed a 5 night stay on points, mixed feelings about this hotel.
Room - no Diamond upgrade, but on top (8th) floor facing building on other side of the wharf. While room was a decent size, there was no storage space - no drawers, no closet, just one hook to hang up a few things, you would expect 5his in a Hampton inn or a holiday inn express. Shower door did not close properly and left a puddle on the floor even with the mat in place.
Diamond recognition - none really, amenity of just 2 bottles of water. No executive lounge (knew this when booking). 25% dining discount. When I called reception to check on Diamond benefits I was offered 4 free drink vouchers, it seems they do not want to give anything unless you ask as these were not given at checkin, no letter as most if not all Hiltons usually have in my room listing diamond benefits at the hotel.
Breakfast - diamonds get free continental breakfast which is quite substantial and includes Belgian waffles. $10 upcharge for the hot item buffet.
We dined in at the bar (Bellini) one night, food was just okay and overpriced, used up our drink vouchers, but service was poor as we ordered our last 2 drinks when our food was delivered but it was more than 20 minutes later after we finished eating that I had to track down the waitress for our drinks (they take the drink vouchers from you at the time you order).
Hotel also has an offer where by not getting your room serviced gets you $10 credit against food & beverage. We did this for 3 nights. On checkout they only gave $15 credit, I told the receptionist it should be $30, she redoes the invoice still only giving $25 - $5 against a coffee from the bar and $20 against the evening meal (which was over $50), got her to fix it to give the full $30 credit which she grudgingly gave as a “one time exception”
If I am ever in Auckland again, the only way I would stay here again was if I needed the nights or stay to requalify for Diamond, otherwise I will stay elsewhere.

Exceptional service from check in. Beds were very comfortable, as were the pillows. Great view from the room balcony. We also had drinks and food downstairs at Bellini bar, which was great value for money. Buffet breakfast had extensive hot and cold foods. The Hilton accommodated early check out with a breakfast bag to go and arranged us a taxi to get to the airport. Fantastic location.

I liked this property. It's in a great location - right at the end of the wharf. It's an easy walk to stores and restaurants and wharf tourism areas.
The property is about a 30 minute drive to the airport. Uber costs around 50 to 60 and cars are always close by.
The room was very comfortable and decent sized with a nice balcony. The bathroom was good - the A/C was excellent. The wifi was often unstable - so there's that. But the desk staff were great.
Overall a good spot and a good stay - I'd return.

The location of this hotel on the harbor is just stupendous. The lobby, the restaurant and bar have amazing view. From the balcony of the rooms that gave the harbor one can watch the activity of boats, cruise and cargo ships come and go. It is the Best location in Auckland. Harborside restaurants in all price points are less than a 5 minute walk. Shopping ( high end from Van Cleef and Arpels, LV,Tiffany, Dior) for all prices, public transportation are all a short easy walk.
Breakfast has a wide selection and the restaurant is glass encased with sweeping views of the ocean.
A very elegant hotel. The lobby and bar area has fireplaces that provides warmth and comfort with sweeping views.
You cannot go wrong with the location.

We stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights on our recent visit to Auckland and honestly came away feeling a little underwhelmed. We stay in Hilton hotels regularly when away as they’re usually pretty dependable and we like the brand but some aspects of this hotel need improvement. Let me start by saying the views from our harbour front room were exquisite, the balcony was lovely and the breakfast was really very delicious. I would recommend adding breakfast to your booking because the selection is varied and of an excellent quality.
Unfortunately the hotel itself is, in my opinion, slightly tired and the decor a little dated. The service was very changeable too, some good some bad, notably the larger gentleman at the concierge desk. We came to New Zealand for my 40th birthday, a bucket list holiday of a lifetime starting off in Auckland. My partner spoke to the concierge and asked if they were able to serve a small birthday cake (purchased elsewhere as they said they couldn’t assist with a cake) and 2 mimosas to us at breakfast on my birthday which he reluctantly agreed to. On the day, breakfast came and went (I had no idea anything was planned). Half an hour afterwards as we were preparing to go out a member of staff delivered the cake to our room still in the supermarket bag and 2 glasses of orange juice with no champagne. Having explained everything to the concierge and for everything to be completely wrong was obviously very disappointing. This was an extremely low key request, nothing fancy or challenging especially for the likes of the Hilton. It seems the concierge in this branch just sits and books people taxis and excursions. Very disappointing. Mimosas were eventually delivered much later but by that point the element of fun and surprise had passed.
There are a number of high end hotel alternatives to choose from in this area, I would suggest people look beyond the Hilton brand in this case as this hotel does not quite live up to the standard.

This Hilton is very disappointing. Hotel itself is showing its age and needs a refurbishment. As a diamond member there is no executive lounge here, instead you get two vouchers for a drink at the bar. Went for breakfast and was seated, ordered a coffee and had the breakfast. As I left I was presented with a bill for breakfast and was only then told I was only entitled to the continental breakfast. I explained I was not told, and they waived the breakfast but charged for the coffee. Only two bottle of water bottles to last for a 3 day stay valued at $1800. This Hilton is a major step down from others in the Asia/Pacific region. Room balconies are also not private with other people staying in rooms able to walk to your balcony. For the price of this hotel there are many other better options in Auckland. Very disappointing and wont be back here.

Sorry i missed your message
Our room was not ready when we got there. We left our luggage and walked around the area and had lunch. You might contact them and let then know you are coming in early. Sometimes if they can they try to get you in early.
I think you have your answer. We were there (2 of us) in June 2022 with no children. The hotel was excellent in all regards.
In a couple of years, we, too, will check the rules because we want to return with our grandkids!!
There is an excellent breakfast buffet, with smoked salmon, some delicious and healthy breads, and eggs cooked in any style you wish. We stayed at the Hilton Auckland twice and ate breakfast daily on both visits. And the view is wonderful over the bay
