A very Broome experience. Great rustic, beautiful guest house. Totally relaxing and enjoyable time. A large rambling building with lush grounds. Lots of private nooks and plenty of places to relax in the breeze ways and under the trees. The rooms have all the usual accompaniments. The staff are very accommodating.

After a break of nine years, we recently returned to the gorgeous McAlpine House to celebrate our Pearl wedding anniversary. How typical of Marilynne and Gary to have a beautiful bottle of Brut Champagne and congratulations card to greet us! Those considered touches are what set this lovely venue apart. Thank you so much for making our treat even more...

Thank you for your review and your constructive comments. A few points to clarify - the room towels are new and were installed in rooms in February this year. We are awaiting our new supply of pool towels and look forward to having them around the pool area. We have checked the room safe and find that it does work....

Had the most wonderful stay. The accommodation we had was a Garden Suite; which was exactly as pictured pre my booking. Beautiful, luxurious decor and very spacious.Afternoon laze on the sunbed in your private decked courtyard amongst beautiful old trees is a lovely advantage booking a suite. Such a beautifully maintained establishment.lush tropical gardens and many places to retreat privately or socially...

Unfortunately for us we have now returned home after a fantastic week here. Marilynne and Gary looked after us so well and made us feel as friends (a bit teary when we left). The personal touch is something you just don't get elsewhere! I travel the world with work and this is something the big places just don't offer. A...

Thank you so much for your message. It was such a pleasure having you with us and I am glad you enjoyed it so much. Garry and I enjoyed seeing the photos of the trip to the Horizontal Waterfalls on the Facebook page - you were both looking so happy, as usual really. So many memories, even for us. Wishing...

Marilynne & Gary are the best hosts... they make you feel so welcome and nothing is a trouble... We stayed in the Pearlers verandah room just near the pool. Lots of nooks & crannys to sit around the property to read & relax or laze on the sun lounge by the pool. Weather was hot but the cool water of...

It was such a pleasure having you both here for your holiday. You certainly made the most of your time in Broome, taking a really good variety of tours, visiting the iconic sites and dining at the various restaurants. Your feedback was so valuable to us, as we like to give our guests the latest update on what is considered...

I thoroughly enjoyed my six night stay here in March on a recent business trip. Set in a tropical garden oasis, this rambling and attractive residence is a completely relaxing place to stay. The managers are lovely people, second-guessing every need, without being intrusive. During our stay, my colleague and I had to get off quite early each day and...

Just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at McAlpine House. It is a charmingly converted old pearling-master's house. It was a relaxing stay and the manager Louise was very welcoming and incredibly helpful. The hotel has art and artefacts evocative of Broome's pearling heyday: there is much more of a sense of history than most hotels. The rooms are...

If you are looking for slick, 5 star glamour, then dont stay here! This is a delightul old pearl lugger's home, bought by Lord McAlpine during his Broome heyday and which was his home until it was bought and turned into a small hotel. It has all the charm of old Broome with typiical architecture and delightful tropical gardens. In...

As a regular Broome visitor I have enjoyed most accom. including Cable Beach Club, which is great, but, if you want a true-blue Broome experience McAlpine House is marvellous. Best Bungalow in town. Living like the Lord, in typical Broome-style, you can even kip in Lordy's bed. The Broome life-style to perfection. Surrounded by the art depiction of the Kimberlys...

I stayed here for two nights and the property is in need of a bit of TLC but that can be overlooked due greatly to the attention give. To good old fashion customer service rooms are clean and gardens relaxing well done

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As soon as you step through the modest white picket gate onto a path sprinkled with frangipani flowers and shaded by towering palm trees, you know instantly that you are entering a special place of relaxation and solitude. The former home of Lord McAlpine, Pinctada McAlpine House has been meticulously converted into a private 8-room lodge - perhaps 'oasis' is a more fitting description. A subtle blend of historical charm and modern facilities makes McAlpine House the perfect place to reawaken the spirit. Wide open verandahs and polished timber floors complement a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere which slowly extinguishes your sense of time. We encourage you to make our boutique lodge your home for as long as you stay. By day, the atmosphere is shaped as much by the lush tropical gardens and exotic birds as it is by the personalised attentive service. At night, enjoy a moment of calm by the turquoise waters of a pool lit by a myriad of tiny lights. World class resort? Private retreat? Luxury guest house? McAlpine House defies classification, and that is precisely why it is such a unique place to completely rejuvenate your soul. With just eight rooms - each with its own style and private outdoor escape, a sense of space and escape is blended with a feel of intimacy and serenity. Create your own world among the original artwork and decor reflecting the unique colours and textures of the Kimberley, or step outside to explore the wonder, beauty and contrasts of Broome's azure waters, sweeping white beaches, distinctive red earth and eclectic culture. ... more   less
