Stayed for an action packed long weekend. Location was perfect as it was close to all tram routes and a few minutes walk from the Southern Cross train station. Service was great and staff were friendly. Room was small but rooms are a very reasonable rate and breakfast is included so can't really complain, The only suggestion we had was...

Just back after visiting Melbourne earlier this week to see the Designing 007 Exhibition. Flew down from the Gold Coast and had looked for good cheap accommodation as only required it for one night and came across Hotel Sophia while researching and thought I'd give them a try and I'm so very glad I did! It's a great location, walking...

Recently stayed at Hotel Sophia with some girlfriends to attend a concert. We had a lovely few days & found the rooms clean & comfortable at an affordable price. It was a short walk to the Skybus & Southern Cross station and the free City Circle train was on the next corner. Great for a few days shopping.

We had a very early flight so decided to come by late afternoon train to Melbourne from home and get the Sky Bus to the airport in the morning. Hotel Sophia fulfilled our needs perfectly. It only took us 5 minutes to walk from the Southern Cross Station to the hotel and the same back to the station early next...

Stayed here for one night on recent trip to Melbourne to see The Cult play. Check was smooth & I used Agoda to book. The room was clean & tidy. I booked room with shared bathroom & that was #115 & the bathroom/shower facilities where right next door to room, so it was no hassles. It is located at 277...

I made a booking via phone and was advised the booking was made and I just needed to sent through a voucher which I did. The room wad confirmed and I contacted the hotel twice to follow up breakfast and parking. Upon arrival a lot of people were waiting in reception, staff unprofessional and could not handle all requests. We...

I found the entrance to this hotel quite hard to access. The room was fairly comfortable-good bed, but the walls are very thin and I could hear everything going on in the next room. fairly convenient location on the fringe of Melbourne Central Business District-.close to station and trams and supermarket not far away. Quite a good breakfast

I stayed at the hotel for 4 days mainly for business during the day but close to attractions at night. Its a 5 minute walk from Southern Cross station where the Skybus gets in. Its close to main streets and areas of interest. Easy to walk to restaurant areas, entertainment and shopping. At the time there were some renovations going...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
