Stumbled upon this after seeing reviews on Trip Advisor and were very pleased that we did. This motel does not have the grand entrance or facilities of many others but it does make you feel like you are welcome and feels a lot like staying at home. The lounge could easily be our lounge at home. Great place to stay...

Stayed here with my wife & three sons. Two bedroom apartment was small but comfortable. Beds were close to the best I have ever experienced. Very comfortable. The hotel's green policy also appealed. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Free coffee in the A lounge was great. Foxtel recordable was also a bonus. It was walking distance from the Airport...

We have listened to our guests and developed our rooms and services to fit with what most people were asking for. A good night’s sleep in a comfortable bed, plentiful TV entertainment options and free WiFi were the top of most people’s list. Our friendly service and environmental initiatives are the basis of how we conduct our business. We also...

Wonderful hotel, really friendly staff, bed very comfy, bathroom spotless, 1 bedroom compact apartment with good sized fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave, roomy enough for 3 adults (pull out couch in lounge area was adequate for one adult to use), TV in bedroom and lounge area, free WiFi and Foxtel, free coffee machine in the cosy breakfast area, trams (stop...

Very clean, comfortable rooms in our two bedroom apartment. Modern kitchenette. Compact bathroom with toiletries dispenser. Free wifi and large tv. Very close to Spencer Street DFO, Coles and 7 Eleven stores. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel for easy access to St Kilda, Crown Casino, Queen Victoria Markets and Harbourtown at Docklands. Helpful staff who were...

Chose the hotel due to the close location to Southern Cross rail station and the airport express bus. Can't get any closer than this hotel. Not overly expensive and although the rooms are on the small size they have all you need and the reception service is first class. Nice touches like free wifi, apples and espresso coffee add to...

The Alto hotel on Bourke is a little far from the city heart, but was perfectly located for tram, skybus and railway. My first impression was of the building, which is wonderfully restored and refurbished. The fact there is a staircase is a plus, although I would not like to be in one of the rooms which are directly off...

Alto Hotel on Bourke is very easy to find once you alight from the Skybus at Southern Cross Station. No taxi ride needed - it's just up the Bourke Street. Being early, I was lucky and was checked in regardless, which was easily and speedily done. The upgrade was a nice surprise as well! The King Studio was perfect, as...

This is an excellent boutique hotel with a great location close to Melbourne's tram and train network. It is very close to the Skybus terminal with frequent direct connections t Melbourne airport. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well equipped. There is a good choice for breakfast whether cooked or continental. All staff were very courteous and obliging.

This hotel is situated right near where the skybus from the airport drops off, but it is about a 10 mintue walk down to myers and the other shops, although the tram does stop right out the front taking you that way and to most other places. The service was good, nothing to write home about, but nothing bad. They...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
